Someone hasn't been to Costco recently.
Part of why I don't like the AI-or-bust economy is the constant flopsweat of people on the news who say this HAS to work. Quit making everyone so anxious. Goddamn. If this is the next Google then why are you acting like this? I don't remember being told to buy an iPhone at gunpoint.

Who the fuck is Jack Tindale and why should I care about his grammar prescriptions? Feel free to hate it, Jack, it's still not going to improve your life or dating prospects.
Minor point but I really hate this performative “y’all” people do to try and appear more folksy. I don’t type in a Yorkshire accent and I did people would rightly tell me to shut up.

This is what the Internet promised to be. Watch the YouTube video, it’s totally worth it.
I know we're supposed to believe the internet is awful & algorithmic recommendations are even worse. But I opened up YouTube and the algo recommended the geoguesser guy somehow using the internet to bring back a memory and, sorry, sorry, there's something in my eye... www.youtube.com/watch?v=Lukk...

This tracks with my (non-cryptanalytical) experience with these tools: They are much better than they used to be, and the line where they flip from useful to clueless is still very, very apparent.
I wrote up a short blog post giving my thoughts on the new Anthropic cryptanalysis results against HAWK and AES. blog.cryptographyengineering.com/2026/07/29/s...
Uh, what? Book 24 closes out The Illiad with the funeral of Hector, Troy still very much unfallen. The Trojan Horse is referenced in The Odyssey, not the Illiad. www.poetryintranslation.com/PITBR/Greek/...

Siri, show me someone who doesn't pay for his own travel. I travel not to travel per se - I travel because I *have something to do at my destination* and screwing up that schedule has consequences that range from infuriating to devastating. This take is completely opposite of my experience.
He was right on this BTW. People get incredibly neurotic about missing flights because they've never missed one. Once it's happened to you (assuming you're not travelling with kids) it's annoying but fine and you start leaving/wasting less time at airports.

Just so you understand, this is as if you prepared for argument in front of a panel that included Cookie Monster, and Cookie Monster asked you a question about cookies, and you had not thought about cookies in advance.
GORSUCH: Do you think Native Americans are birthright citizens under your test? SAUER: Ah, I think ... so. I have to think that through.

First FF for me officially? Final Fantasy Adventure on the Game Boy, even if that was truly the start of the Seiken Densetsu series. But it was marketed as Final Fantasy, and I grabbed the other 3 Final Fantasy Game Boy releases as a result - which turned out to be SaGa games.
Got pointed at this by @heartbreak.one and I'm in. First Final Fantasy: Final Fantasy. On the NES. Not quite at first run (I was 3) but before the SNES for sure. It was interesting but it did not take hold of my brain stem. The next two did.

So an odd thing here is that if you say "an unidentified man dressed in a Batman costume" your point is to communicate "it is not really Batman" but the problem is that the real Batman, within the fiction of the comic book "Batman", is also, literally, an unidentified man dressed in a Batman costume
An unidentified man dressed in a Batman costume angrily confronted Santa Clara city officials during a joint meeting of the City Council, city authorities, and the Santa Clara Stadium Authority on Monday, using his public comment to condemn the city’s stance on cooperation with ICE.
