It's really important to pay attention to the fact that Lula beat the fascist candidate not by compromising and trying to meet fascist voters in the middle, but by sticking to his guns, promising prosecutions for election interference, and mobilising his own voters to turn out in greater numbers.

A lot of folks keep defending the transphobic Dems by saying something like "they don't really mean it. They won't really vote to hurt trans people." Those people are fools. can they not see that the words those Dems are using are already doing active harm? Win or lose, they've done real damage

to trans rights. A supposed ally calling trans women "biological men" or just "men" is pushing into the minds of the American public the dangerous, bigoted idea that that is what we are. They must be stopped.

My book with the clearest adult in the room is TIVT. Finn is 100% the adult in the room. She keeps Tiff and Doc grounded. without being a wet blanket.

Lucid: Molly, a steel chain with half a small magnetic meteorite on each end, worn as a necklace, and TMI, a labrys with the letters TMI on the blade. They're Parker's weapons of choice. Retconned: Maybe a temporary tattoo of the MC's mark. Quickened: A tiny posable dragon girl action figure

I wanna try something If you, or a girly you know, was a teen in the early 2000s, and lived in Haldiman county, hit up my DMs I have a suspicion about my best friend growing up that I lost contact with

"Some cases of estrangement stem from a traumatic childhood. But in others it can come as a shock to parents who believe they did their best." They write the as if those are two separate things. It's not like most parents who traumatize their children ever admit that to themselves or anyone else.

This is a quietly metastasizing moral panic

My kids haven't cut me off, and I'm pretty sure that if (heaven forbid) they ever do, I'll know exactly why, because they'll tell me. We've raised them to stand up for themselves, and thus far, they've demonstrated willingness to share with me what they're angry about and actually discuss it.

This one's easy. of all my major characters, Emily, from Retconned is easily the most committed. She protects people. It's what she does. It's who she is.

Usually characters come first, and I build a world to tell their story in. Lucid was written for Parker. Retconned was written for Frank & Emily. TIVT was written for Tiff. That's not the case with my current WIP, since it's a followup to Retconned, with different MCs. The world came before them.

Q1: Do you build your world to suit your story and/or characters or does the world come to you first? #WeeknightWriters

I don't know if anyone else uses this one, but I've had people confused by it. My family had a drawer in the kitchen for miscellaneous stuff, and we called it 'the everything drawer". I've had that in my houses since.

This is perfect, because of course we all want our cars, laptops, bicycles and refrigerators to be created in a non-deterministic process. I can't see any potential issues there at all.

In light of some magazines pulling scummy things on creators lately, I’m doing a little thread on short story rights. I don't want anybody getting taken advantage of. Also, if you're new, this stuff can be confusing!

If you see this, we IMPLORE you to post a picture from whatever device you’re using, without an explanation.

Now obviously as someone writing a Petra Parker x Flash Thompson fanfic, I’m biased in these matters. But a friend has been reading thru silver age Spidey and had brought to my attention that I apparently didn’t even exaggerate their dynamic by that much in my fic #comics #marvel

I hesitate to do things like this, but what the heck.

Here's a meme for you to repost, if you're a writer who would love for someone to say nice things about your work.

That’s painting with a pretty broad brush—a lot of perverts don’t want to have anything to do with me.

Luna: My relationship with my parents? Good? I think? They're pretty great, even if they're kind of cringe. When I wasn't sure if I was trans yet, I went to both of them. Me: I think I might be trans? Mom: Do you want to try estrogen? Me: . . .

#QueerCharChat | September 25, 2026 This question can be either sad or happy, your character can choose. They can talk about their bio parents or maybe an adoptive family. It's up to them. They can even talk about a friend that is more like a parent to them. #WritingCommunity #QueerWriting

Dad: Yeah. It should clear things up pretty quick. I tried it for a month and it was *not* for me. Me: You tried estrogen? Why? Dad: I was at risk from prostate cancer, and since mom is bi– Me (to Mom): You're bi? Mom: Have you *seen* women?

Dad: Anyway, it seemed like transitioning might be a good preventative measure. It was terrible. I was irritable nd dpressed… Mom: <nods> and no sex drive *at all* I think I was the most embarrassed I'd ever been. But I got on E, so, yeah.

I’m Jill Rose. I write mostly queer YA. My main WIP is a follow up to my first self-published novel, Retconned. Same setting, but different MCs.

With how clearly coordinated this sudden heel turn on trans issues by Dem candidates is, I hope every single one of those candidates who has turned on us loses. If it costs us congress, so be it. The fact that they're even saying anything makes my life measurable worse and more dangerous.

They are validating the right's bigotry against trans people. If you're okay with them throwing trans people under the bus, well, there's nothing I can do about that. But I will not jump under there myself.

Trans people are a slightly LARGER percent of the US population in 2026 than Jewish people were in Germany in 1933. Assholes who say trans folk aren’t worth defending because of population size are telling us exactly who they would have been in Nazi Germany.
