The US? Really? Do Bashar al-Assad's hopes of finally having someone to play Mario Kart with mean nothing to you, Flavio?!

BREAKING: The U.S. government is granting visas to Flávio Bolsonaro and his family following his defeat in Brazil's presidential election.

Shameful. Congress should pass a revised version of the Russia sanctions bill with no Presidential waiver authority.

"The Trump administration is exploring a new concession to Russia: lifting sanctions on the country’s flagship government investment fund, long viewed by U.S. officials as one of the Kremlin’s most powerful tools of international influence."

Some context around this, from a markets person. Historically in LatAm, leftist victories have led to sharp losses over the ~3 months after an election where the left wins. Stocks also typically underperformed into those victories. But 3y post-election, returns for leftists have been *higher*.

It's very, very telling, I think, that the markets are so concerned about the pro-democracy incumbent winning

The real story of the Brazilian election is that this sprawling, poor country can have definitive results in a couple of hours whereas the richest country in the history of the world contrives to take weeks or months to determine same.

pensar que semana passada eu tava com medo desse maluco virar presidente e hoje ele tá em algum lugar de buenos aires usando peruca e óculos do groucho marx

This probably means the 2030 Brazilian presidential field is *wide open.*

With 80% counted, Folha de São Paulo (Brazil’s WSJ) calls it.

A day late, but this is one of the first images taken of Earth from space. Ever. It was acquired from an altitude of 105 km (five times higher than the previous record) eighty years ago, on 24 October 1946, with a 35 mm camera mounted on a V-2 rocket launched from the White Sands Missile Range.

Interesting stat: of polling places counted so far, 153 have swung to Flávio; 6.6k have swung to Lula.

Das 28% urnas já apuradas: 153 urnas viraram para o Flávio 6.653 urnas viraram para o Lula Fizemos um trabalho lindo de vira voto nesse 2º turno!

If you had told me at any point in Lula's 1st or 2nd term not only that I would be rooting for him in the future ... but also that I'd be rooting for his *4th* term, when he's *80*, after multiple corruption convictions... and that I would think it was of *urgent global importance* for him to win...

TRANSmitter This is the name I'm giving my weekly series where I hope to share some insights into my journey and experiences as a transgender woman. I feel it's a great word to use because it connects to my career on the radio where the transmitter is what sent my voice to listeners.

Here’s the crazy part about Leonid Brezhnev’s eyebrows. Look close along the top: He clearly trimmed those puppies. Which means THEY WERE EVEN LARGER THAN WE EVER GUESSED

100 years ago everyone owned a horse & only the rich had cars. Today everyone has cars & only the rich own horses. How the stables have turned.
