A day late, but this is one of the first images taken of Earth from space. Ever. It was acquired from an altitude of 105 km (five times higher than the previous record) eighty years ago, on 24 October 1946, with a 35 mm camera mounted on a V-2 rocket launched from the White Sands Missile Range.

one consistency is clouds will always fuck with any shot you want to take of the sky unless you are looking actually for clouds, then they get shy...gaseous bitches

Yes, the USA has perhaps 100 million people who think the bible is real but also violate the teachings of Jesus all day, meaning they would go to Hell according to their own rules... Flat earth is nothing compared to believing in "race" to justify slavery and murder!

Very cool… makes me wish I knew whatever happened to the pics from a 1970s (or maybe 80s?) Estes rocket camera :-)

Between 1942-45, both the Germans and Allies had high-altitude reconnaissance aircraft that provided the first photographs of the curvature of the planet from c. 50,000 ft up. This data was used in post-war V2 rocket trajectory calculations.
