American small business owners largely see themselves as lower-level rentiers in a quasi-feudal economy as opposed to service providers in a competitive market economy, and part of that means not having to actually be competent at providing services

I’ve lost track of how many small business owners in DC are shocked that their customers respond extremely negatively to their public tweets supporting Trump

I'm not much of a Pokémon person, but my son is & trying to buy him cards at retail prices has been nigh on impossible the last couple of years, and I refuse to pay scalpers for anything. So it warms the cockles of my heart to see so many of them having a full meltdown about the recent set. Enjoy!!

The US Web Design System is load-bearing infrastructure for thousands of government websites. It makes it easy for small teams with no resources (i.e. most .gov teams) to make usable, accessible websites that work for everyone. Today, it's as close as it's ever been to being replaced with AI slop.

This is incredibly frustrating and sad and awful. Ughhhhhhh.

Well they finally did it. DOGE got rid of my friend Anne, the only remaining person at the web design system for the entire US government. The replacement appears to be AI-generated code with no dedicated human oversight.

I picked up a copy of the collected letters of JRR Tolkien for reasons, and this is the most bullshit table of contents I've ever seen. I'm actively angry that it exists

SCOOP: Republican House candidate Ralph Alvarado is pivoting his message, editing his website to remove Trump mentions and delete a photo of them together. From “America First Fighter” to “Independent Leadership.” Trump won KY06 by 15 pts. www.nbcnews.com/politics/202... BEFORE/AFTER

Ii mean, maybe it could never happen here because this has a sick cyberpunk-TRON interface and in the states any such software would have a look and feel like as if FastLane fucked Workday.

BREAKING: Zohran Mamdani announces click-to-cancel rule for NYC. This rule is aimed at guaranteeing New Yorkers can cancel subscriptions as easily as they sign up — and stopping corporations from trapping customers. This will save New Yorkers up to $162.5 million per year.

There's a perverse symbolism in the legacy of White racism sheltering under the bowers of all African Americans have done for this country while patiently waiting for the chance to go back to insisting we are a drain upon their society and that they never needed us at all.

SoftBank’s investor presentation is one of the greatest things ever made. I’ve been thinking about it all day. These are the real slides shown in a speech where Masayoshi Son said he wouldn’t retire for at least another decade. The goose stuff is truly demented. Bravo group.softbank/media/Projec...

It’s been five years since Alex Jones lost InfoWars to the Sandy Hook families. As the verdict came down, he asked: “Do these people actually believe they’re getting any money?” He hasn't paid them a penny. Well, The Onion is going pay them anyway. The new InfoWars begins July 2nd at 8 p.m. ET.

ms.nowThe Onion says it won’t wait for the courts, will launch Infowars to pay Sandy Hook familiesThe Onion’s staff is tired of waiting for the courts to settle its pending takeover of Alex Jones’ brand, so the new Infowars will launch next month.

Since BlueSky is the sports app, and the lawyers aren't here yet, enjoy 90 immaculate seconds of "Country Roads" after West Virginia walked off Kentucky to reach the Super Regionals.

"...journalists are ultimately responsible for everything that we publish" That sounds great, but... in what way will the journalist be held responsible for their error? (I have a guess) (The guess is "nothing at all")

it's a violation of the NYT's own AI policy, and it's also not disclosed that AI was used to report the article. how many other articles at the @nytimes.com contain AI-generated misinformation that's gone unchecked? www.nytco.com/press/princi...

The fact that nobody seriously believes there is an institution in this country that will check the president—that we’re all just sitting here hoping that he gets distracted and fails to follow through on his genocidal threats—is the most damning indictment of our political system I’ve seen yet.
