@burningshed.com do you have any insight on if/when the self-published Camel records from late 90s/early 2000s would be republished? The 2nd hand market for them is brutal.
There’s this recurring theme that “taste” is what differentiates good apps/software from slop, but I personally think procrastination is a key factor often overlooked.

If you can build anything very quickly, you tend to pick an option (because the LLM nudges you in that direction) as opposed to let it stew for a while. You think there’s only A and B when in reality C is hidden behind a night of sleep or a walk.
Big thanks to Mike Palmer for the footage here, Thomas Coe-Brooker for the edit and everyone who came along on Saturday and helped make it such a great night.
I love DeepSeek V4 Flash so much. It tends to run amok sometimes, so V4 Pro to write a plan + GPT 5.6 Luna/something else as an advisor and you have a dirt cheap coding setup.
Love the product and use it daily, and I'm glad to see that the server component is written both in #ElixirLang and #GleamLang (will read the source later this week).
It was really fun! I tried to ramble as little as possible. My main point was that pi lets me build tools that are tightly integrated, and usable by me and the LLM. It helps me being more effective without relinquishing control.
A few weeks ago, I paired with @claudio-ortolina.org where he shared a bit about his AI workflow and how he uses pi, as he walked me through his app to manage his huge (and ever growing) record collection.
Thanks again Claudio for pairing!

This next year is going to be extremely testing financially.
Cost of living continues to grow & interest rates are crazy high.
In the next 6 months I'm going to have to somehow earn a *lot* more just to continue to barely stay above the waterline.
Not sure what to do. Suggestions on a postcard!
I’ll be available in a part-time capacity for #ElixirLang work within the next month or two. If you open my profile you can find my website with a link to my talks, and I’m fairly easy to find on LinkedIn for past work experience.
I'm enjoying listening to this excellent album which samples original voice recordings from the Apollo mission era while watching Artemis II coverage album.link/i/1738417407
@zachdaniel.dev before I open an issue and possibly a PR, is there any appetite to have a `usage_rules.list_available_rules` (or other name) mix task that simply tells you what's available in a project at a given point in time?
The context is: I've updated to 1.0, and using the `:all` value to have all rules in the agents file. I'm thinking about migrating it to explicit package names to have some of them (which are quite long) referenced instead of embedded. What I don't know now is the list of the available usage rules.

I haven't seen a good example of we go from a newcomer in the industry to an expert able to wield AI in a productive way. My experience tells me that to get good at something, you have to do the thing slowly, deliberately and multiple times.
On the other hand, the social and political implications of the deployment of AI by large corporations and backing governments are concerning to say the least, and my gut tells me that somehow I have to draw a line in the sand.
On a personal level, I have learned to develop software with the user in mind, and a group of people to do the work with me. I can't have a conversation with a machine.
On the one hand I see people that I professionally admire embracing it and documenting success, investing in sharpening usage of the tool in the same way I've seen it done over the years with editors, version control, etc.
It is EXHAUSTING not only being made responsible for coming up with new kinds of assignments for our students; it's also tedious reading op-eds that suggest the core problem is a crisis in teaching. But, as Chris and I lay out here, this isn't a crisis in teaching; it's an attack on learning.
"We envision a resistance that is...a repudiation of the efficiencies that automated algorithmic education falsely promises: a resistance comprising the collective force of small acts of friction."

I've been researching and playing with Event Sourcing and related patterns for years now, but it's an expensive hobby. If anyone's interested in (paid) introductions to the patterns and ideas, or workshops on the matter, hit me up! I honestly believe understanding it can provide a lot of value.
@burningshed.com I’m trying to find out information about a uk prog band I heard on radio, it’s called Axiom Shift. Both music and what I could find (little) makes me think it’s an AI experiment, but I was wondering if you had more info?
So if your software is not a thing people have already written a lot of times "AI" can't help doing it?
I thought for coding it was supposed to be super capable now?
@stevenwilsonhq.bsky.social I recently dug into a few of your Bass Communion records and really enjoyed them! It would be nice to hear some stories about them.
