v1.136 is live! Introducing: Profile links We want independent writers, artists, developers, and creators to be able to build and fund sustainable projects on Bluesky. Help your followers know how to support you by adding buttons for Patreon, Ko-fi, your newsletter or website, and more.

Bridgy Fed is open source, so onlookers have noticed we’ve experimented with adding protocols to our codebase, namely Nostr & Farcaster. Both are in the codebase with near-readiness to launch, but we currently have no plans to launch them. For transparency, here's why:

blog.anew.socialOn Nostr, Farcaster, and other protocolsRight now, Bridgy Fed connects the web, ActivityPub, and AT Protocol. Long term, our goal has always been to level the playing field across many more technologies. We’ve always believed that a new sta...

woohoo! we've also integrated interledger's webmonetization standard into bridgy fed, so we can bridge this across networks 👀

excited to announce that @blackskyweb.xyz was accepted into the @interledger.org 2026 Open Payments Accelerator Cohort we're building native payment infrastructure for @atproto.com to enable peer-to-peer payments for mutual aid and community support

Bridgy Fed now officially supports Mastodon quote posts! If you see a post bridged from the Atmosphere on the Fediverse, you can quote it using your Mastodon account. Small note: this will work for posts starting this week - older posts are not supported. Happy quoting!

New status update! Better response UI, real fediverse outboxes, profile update fixes, faster fediverse delivery, security and reliability improvements, and more…

snarfed.orgsnarfed.orgHi everyone! Welcome to another Bridgy Fed status update. Since last time, we’ve been focusing on a big new project that we’re almost ready to start beta testing, but we also managed to ship some smaller features and improvements: * From the Atmosphere: * Support posts with link embed but no text * Improve account deactivation/delete handling * Fix missed profile updates when you make more than one in a row * To the Atmosphere: link previews for bsky.app links * From the fediverse: handle pinned posts in paged collections * To the fediverse: * Serve real outboxes again * Speed up delivery for accounts with many followers * Preserve line breaks in profile bios * From the web: ask for confirmation before bridging * DM notifications: * Notify you of responses to replies you send from the web UI * Show original posts from Atmosphere users who are only visible to logged in users * Internal: * Security: more hardening against SSRF, XSS, and CSRF attacks * Add a load balancer * Faster `listRepos` * Real `collections` in `describeRepo` * Improve firehose reliability * Switch “Bluesky” to “Atmosphere” in docs, UI, etc As usual, feel free to ping us with feedback, questions, and bug reports, and please support us on Patreon! You can follow the _now_ label on GitHub to see what we’re currently focusing on. See you on the bridge!

Oh, hey! 👋🏼

I'm bad at spacing but tada! got the apartment chalk wall ready for @atproto.nyc community day ❤️ how great that the Atmosphere is so big that I couldn't possible fit everyone?

@microcosm.blue 🤝🏼 @anew.social A huge huge thanks to @bad-example.com for helping us with this! We couldn't do it without your support!

If you've backfilled the network before, you probably noticed the 65k bridged accounts you couldn't sync. …until a week ago! Bridgy Fed's `getRepo` is now open, and served by Hubble!

And, finally, if you're on the Fediverse and have bridged your profile, you can now rest easy if you migrate to another instance. We now listen for migrations, and re-map your Bridgy Fed account to the new profile! No more losing bridged accounts after migrating! 4/

We know some of these are features people have wanted for a while, so we’re excited to finally roll these out. Migrations are a core part of the open social web, and we want to make sure we simplify that process for you as much as possible 🫶 5/fin

First, a credible exit from Bridgy Fed! You can now migrate your bridged accounts *out* of the bridge and turn them into native accounts. Your accounts, your choice - you can keep them as two separate native accounts, migrate to another multi-protocol service like Wafrn, or...whatever you want! 2/

Second, if you: - Bounce and can no longer see unbridged profiles from your prior ecosystem in your feed - You request someone use Bridgy Fed on the other side of the bridge ...we'll now send you a DM notification when they bridge. No more losing connections over the bridge! 3/

This is such a crucial milestone for the open social web. Around here, we build Bridgy, not walls. And with this coalition of incredible organizations and individuals, we're going to break a whole lot more walls down together 🤝🏼💪🏼

The true secret sauce of Bridgy Fed: That it doesn’t just bridge Mastodon and Bluesky, it also bridges them both to and from the IndieWeb. And what’s the IndieWeb? At its core it’s POSH (Plain Old Semantic HTML), with some added WebMention on top. You can even make it work with a static site!
