“Haiku is a better model than Kimi” is unbelievable copeslop

Quantian@quantian.bsky.social

If you are still on the “cheap Chinese models will take share from US labs” cope train you need to get off. US labs are now distilling their own models to compete across the Pareto frontier, so Haiku is better model than Kimi at 1/8th the cost. The only reason to use it is if you MUST self-host.

easy way to have no idea what you’re putting out into the world I fear.

okay based on reports from my husband it turns out the teaching profession is full of people vibing their jobs and everyone disagrees on comportment and excesses so I think basically every profession is going to have a +10,000 PR era

so you’re saying you need software that is natively multimodal, good at conversions, can work in iterative verification loops, and is good at navigating complicated proprietary formats with intuitive prodding? Hmm

"we don't need fire, we just need a way to cook our food"

I have been using the absolutely paltry moonshot usage limits to once over every output and make it actually readable, it’s insane that did this without making another simlish-native model

well, for all intents and purposes, moonshot is now a proper frontier lab

Flávio Bolsonaro had his passport confiscated by the Brazilian fed police as his brother Eduardo told him to flee to the US. He is tied to paramilitary gangs, is being investigated & lost his legislative immunity when he left the Senate to run for president. paydayreport.com/brazilian-fe...

I like that the Dwarkesh Sarah Paine lecture series is this brilliant woman giving magnificent, thoughtful, and engaging lectures on her life’s work, followed by a complete fucking knuckle dragger asking the stupidest questions on earth in the most grating way possible

is the switch remake of Pokemon mystery dungeon worth playing or should I just play the OG gba/DS games

this does not seem to be anything close to what people--including the article--are implying it is.

Your description is as previously stated, a long winded bollocky version of ‘it’s a lookup’. Being an engineer, you obviously have lost the ability to see the wood for the trees.

this is literally what to hope for in the israeli elections, yes

I think the best we can hope for is a coalition who had incompatible ideas of what to do and get nothing done...

how does tropical smoothie cafe consistently manage to produce decent smoothies and completely inedible food. I just had the worst burrito of my life man.

- Americans largely buy things at higher prices because it cost more to build and distribute them here because we all ge paid absurdly high - fossil fuels should be 2-3x more expensive - “finance” doesn’t even factor into this? - most of what you’re talking about is trump and tariffs.

Andisheh Nouraee@andisheh.com

Corruption and high prices are largely the same issue. If Democrats can dismantle the Trump/Tech/Fossil Fuel/Finance mafias running the country, things will cost less relative to our incomes.

Anthropic cumulative operating loss since inception is only $12 billion and at their current run rate operating margin they will completely recoup that loss by Q1 27 even if revenue is flat. So much for “these companies will never make money” lmao

bubble’s not popping anytime soon if anthropic is making this kind of money off claude, even if capex costs are still absurd

The unit economics here are frankly shocking they're so good. This is wildly stronger than I expected tbh.

So they are just lookup functions with a bloated name. Intelligence would allow a word derived from two root meanings to be worked out. AI only does that if it’s told what the answer is from its data. It can’t ’work out’ anything.
