You can't expect the New York Times to give any attention to a story about the president being credibly accused of violent rape when the story breaks so close to an election. It's not like we're talking about something *really* important, like email security protocols.

I know there's a lot going on but I feel it should probably be more of an above-the-fold story that members of Congress released a thoroughly documented report directly accusing the president of the United States of being a serial rapist.

Trump IN Salina, KS on Halloween? KSAL: "Kansas GOP says event will feature remarks by Trump." It's going to be a taped appearance. Not even a remote, live, appearance, but taped. Mark my words. They did NOT, in any way, say he was going to APPEAR in Salina. Very careful w/words they were.

From the event signup page, where they use the word FEATURING, not the word APPEARING. Maybe it's just me. But for now, I think this will be a virtual appearance. "Join us for a Midterm Rally taking place in Salina, Kansas on Saturday, October 31, featuring President Donald J. Trump."

Not a single Democrat anywhere should be afraid of doing this to absolutely every Republican who takes money from Elon Musk in 2028.

But culturally, they need a world in which sexual assault claims are presumptively false. Because if you acknowledge that the great majority are true, it becomes pretty much impossible to maintain that the dozens of accusations against Trump are all fabrications.

If you want to know how complete the right-wing capture of the public narrative is: people were shocked a dozen years ago at birtherism being pointed at Obama. Yesterday, Trumpists said AES was not an American *even though he has a birth certificate* — and none of those outlets even made it news.

The US is not about to have a free and fair election. The state has put its thumb on the scale to favor the ruling party in multiple ways. It's a mostly free, somewhat unfair election. But still one where the ruling party can be overwhelmed by numbers. Hence the term "competitive authoritarianism."

Asawin Suebsaeng@swin24.bsky.social

It is atrocious we have to operate under this constant credible and explicit threat from one political party, the fact we keep calling it a “free and fair election” needs some light revising

Lula winning is great for the planet, great for Brazil, and great for people who aren't revanchist assholes everywhere in the world, but let's not forget that it's also going to make some of the worst people on Earth extremely sad and mad. We should enjoy that, as a little treat.

Bye Hetzner. "We confirm the email regarding PHP was sent from our side. We cannot determine why it did not reach your inbox at the expected time. Contact your email provider to investigate the delivery delay." Narrator: they sent the email hours later than they said. Headers show a 4 sec. delay.

Getting special exemptions for SpaceX that put it into stock indices unprecedentedly early, thereby getting money from big funds that can buy only safe investments, was worth more to Musk than all the hundreds of millions of dollars he’s spent trying to buy elections. Much more. Incredibly corrupt.

Everyone has kind of laughed it off but there’s actually now an official investigation by multiple organizations into why my US election ballot hasn’t been released from US customs in a month without any explanation.

Remember when the President directing the DOJ to do literally anything would be a months long scandal that would almost certainly end in impeachment? I miss those days.

Trump just said this about his DOJ's Alaska lawsuit: "I'm the one that said do it."

putting this guy in the economic dirt would be the easiest thing in the world. all his money is based on either regulatory credit arbitrage or straight up government largesse. you could wipe him out with a stroke of a pen. you could also then jail him. and then deport him.

For reasons unknown, hetzner.com is not responsive to the PHP security issue, so now my web sites all display the following: Site will return when PHP security issue is resolved. How's it going for you @glennf.com? You are possibly on a different plan than I am.

I never got a notification from Hetzner. Very disappointed. Response to my customer query was: you are responsible for patching cloud server. YES, but YOU provide the repos. Assholes. No comms, then tell me to suck it. It's damn hard to find a good hosting provider. Pair *had* a 20 year run.

Well, it's even worse. I got a *bitchy* letter from Hetzner today. Telling me they most certainly did inform me and to stop whining and check the status page. I told them FUCK YOU when I realized the email concerning the PHP issue only came 24 hours after the situation was resolved. Moving again

Vance is in Ohio to support the Ramaswamy campaign, which is in hot water for an ad in which they promote a woman who sided with her husband after he was arrested for raping her 12-year-old daughter. For his intro song, they chose ... Jerry Lee Lewis, who famously married his 13-year-old cousin.

The president shouting "fake news" is bad enough, but the FCC commissioner threatening to punish broadcasters for promoting "fake news" like "the president is historically unpopular" is so much worse. Add this clown to the list of officials who need to be impeached and removed.
