Thanks for your work on such a beautiful game. The art direction, and incredible work of all the art team is what really made me enjoy this game so much.

Awesome job, i absolutely love the look and feel of this game. The game play is a bit too sweaty for me, but I walked around and took a million screenshots!

Bio-Research is my favourite POI on any of the maps, and one of my favourite places in any game. It feels so cohesive and lived-in, and it demonstrates how the design language of the markings and fabrication aren't just afterthoughts. You made something really magnificent!

This might look like any other mundane hallway in the game, but this area I was responsible for implementing a "vertical slice" finished interior environment based off Patrick Bloom's concept. I worked with all the departments, inching our in-game implementation of the artstyle to the final look <3

I am SO happy that I worked with Dima Goryainov many times on this project and helped bring his concepts to life in the game. Here's the panopticon at the center of Cryo-Archive and the original concept Dima developed for it. I hand modeled all of the in-game cables in Blender haha #MarathonTheGame

Glad to hear Blender is being used in game dev, I had an argument with someone who said only 3ds max was used in game dev. I…dont think so…

MORE cryo-archive <3 Dima once again provided this insane cable bag concept connected to the panopticon that I got to bring to life in-game! I ended up spending an equal amount of time on them as the panopticon itself. it was a really fun part of development, they turned out cool :3 #MarathonTheGame

COMPLEX! This area was so fun to work on and where I really started understanding our art style and translating the graphic realism to a 3D game environment. I spent lots of time applying Patrick Bloom's amazing graphics to all the walls and figuring out layouts and color blocking. #MarathonTheGame

Absolutely in love with the panopticon. Its got such a presence in the middle of the map. Good work bringing it to life

this mundane hallway is my favourite part of bio, the fallen lockers hint at something being remiss but otherwise it looks like it likely did during the colony era, it's immaculate vibes

Bio's probably my fav POI and place to traverse in the game! Love how great it looks approaching from basically every angle.

The visual design in this game is sick. I don't know how to explain it but I keep thinking about the movie Possessor when I'm watching the loading screens, especially the wax melting effects where consciousness is transferred. Sorry for word salad but I appreciate the hell out of this design!

this is super sick!! i can remember these areas so clearly. if you dont mind, do you have any small tips for someone trying to design their first game environments?

TYY! Yes <3 always focus on the largest elements of your scene first, block out the major shapes and get your scale feeling right in blockout before adding any detail. This usually makes you go really big at first, then scaling things down like 20% as you refine it.

Much easier to do BIG changes at that degree of simple geometry early, rather than later down the pipeline where shapes are all figured out and detailed when you realize things need to change size majorly. The workflow of focusing on big > medium > small forms never fails <3

Were there any sort of stories you came up with for rooms and halls around Marathon that helped you in designing everything because it all feels so alien but still lived in, especially with the graffiti and personal items here and there

We actually spent a lot of time debating functional purposes for each zone and broke up rooms by their high level functions like what type of research they were doing, what did employees do here, where did they take a break, etc ! <3

Your work is so stunning!! Seriously, I hope you and your team are really patting yourselves on the back for the stuff you've pulled off with this game. The environment designs are SO tight and clean. Seriously, amazing work.
