I'm gonna try to stay off of here for a day or two. the sense of doom surrounding steam next fest (and the future of#gamedev in general) is really getting to me gonna play some games and focus on taking care of myself :)

LRT I can't imagine how awful it must be to trudge through the waves of slop during this next fest. people are already hesitant to take chances on even the CHEAPEST paid indie games, at this point there's going to be so much garbage they're just going to stop browsing indies altogether fuck

to me the existential threat posed by AI slop games is less "AI slop games will steal our sales" and more "the onslaught of AI slop and the exhaustion over having to second guess every new game will make people mentally check out from supporting new games at all and retreat to their backlogs"

my stomach dropped when I saw this. my last game did decently in next fest LAST October, and now I'd have to compete with like 4x the games just a year later not even sure if relying on next fest is a viable strat anymore, i might actually have to start marketing next year :(
