Getting around Austin is even worse this week because of the F1 race. The 1%ers who came into town all hired police escorts to whip through traffic. I guess that’s a thing they can do? We were late to dinner last night bc caravan of 30 Escalades surrounding a Lamborghini dominated the highway.

I thought that was just a one time thing but the Austin subreddit is chock full of posts about these escorts. They’re everywhere and it sucks. These cars have lights and sirens and people think they have to move to the shoulder for em. Nobody should be able to pay for this privilege.

The one time I visited a WeWork I sat at a table by some windows that overlooked the city. That turned out to be a big mistake because every 10 minutes a new dude would take the loudest call on his AirPods and gaze out this window with his hands on his hips in a “I’m gonna own this town” kinda way.

Honestly this one makes sense to me. I know a few physical media sickos, but all of their interest is in DVDs. The physical media nostalgia ceiling comes before the HD era. Contrast that to the people I know with sick home theater setups, 4K OLEDs and whatnot - they've all got media servers.
