So she is certainly not my choice for much of anything, but she hasn't sat on her ass doing nothing. Some folk CAN chew gum and walk at the same time. My senators, on the other hand, have been absolutely AWOL. And I'm pretty confident our state is coming up soon on the ICE DEMOLITION DERBY list.

I feel like it's gone up way more than that but yeahh after Zohran all these centrist Dems are pretending to be focused on affordability as a way to avoid talking about anything else, when really they'd do nothing to fix the economy eiter

I think they recognize that affordability is popular, but centrist Dems definitely disagree with Mamdani's approach to solving the problem. They get too much money from corporate donors to support taxing the rich in order to provide basic human needs to everybody

I think as a broader program it might be valuable to shatter people's delusions that Republicans are the Harsh but Responsible party. They're the Harsh and Irresponsible party! They're just worse!

It's very much _not_ that you have to sacrifice a little comfort in order for people you've never met to not have their heads cracked by cops. Republicans would like you to believe that's a tradeoff and they're looking out for You at the expense of Them; actually they make everything worse.

The fascists do not make the trains run on time. And some people think they do, and consider themselves Sensible Pragmatists who avoid the sin of empathy and do what needs to be done, and to that I yell at them that fascists are making the trains late!

AMERICANS: "Hey! Trump lit my house on fire! It's engulfed in flames! My family is still in there! HELP!" KLOBUCHAR: "Y'know what's worse? He also raised your electricity bill by 4%."

So you guys stopped pretending to get mad about "greedflation" when a Republican became president, just like when you stopped pretending to care about drone strikes or the environment

I know everyone here hates klobuchar, but I think dems can/need to walk and chew gum. Congress is in the midst of maybe acting to rein in the tariffs and the tariff case is still pending at SCOTUS. Building anti-tariff political will is a good thing. Furthermore ICE must be destroyed

Harris literally told the American people that Trump would send the military into our cities and people voted for Trump because of the price of eggs.

Well, it’s not like Democrats said on many occasions and in many ways that Donnie loved fascism and would share that love with us, including masked thugs answerable only to him in the streets hunting people, but won the election anyway due to convincing rubes he’d be better for the economy. Right?!

Hello and welcome to the Poaster Idiot Exam. Here is question one. Which poast gets you more likes and engagement, therefore assuaging your pathological need for attention: —A post that tells the truth about Klobuchar without straw man arguments or false dichotomies. —This one.

But honestly, can you not see how that "government occupying American cities and killing residents without justification" could slip the mind of an elected politician who is...what was it again?...running for Governor of Minnesota? It's unusual to see a politician miss a moment this badly.

Should she be saying stuff like this?

Amy Klobuchar@amyklobuchar.com

Two Minnesotans were killed and many others were hurt, racially profiled, or had their rights violated during this federal surge. Minnesota now needs to move forward and focus on securing justice and accountability for all the harm ICE has caused in our state.

Scroll her TL. She's been posting about the ICE occupation from the jump. In addition to showing up on the ground to meet with people and helping amplify victims' their voices through Congressional hearings. She's responding to a whole array of constituent concerns.

Regrettably, for low-information voters it’s the second. They don’t know about Trump’s Gestapo because it’s not happening in their city and they don’t watch the news. They know prices are higher because it’s part of their experience.

I'd argue that both are important. Bread and Roses is one of the oldest messages of socialism, and Rosa Luxembourg was absolutely right about revolutions without dancing.

Yes, but even a savvy politician can't be expected to do both in a single 300-character post. which is why she has both kinds of post in her feed!! like c'mon.

Also, Elizabeth Warren posted something similar. People are using a Valentine's Day theme to highlight the costs of Trump tarrifs, and Libby comes across as quite tone deaf when she pretends that price increases aren't a stressor for average Americans, especially in Minnesota.

I get the point but also there's a distinct pattern over the last decade where if you beat the drum on Trump being an aspiring tinpot dictator people roll their eyes at you and tell you you're overreacting

To the unaffiliated 10% of our electorate who know almost nothing yet also decide most of our elections, it's almost certainly closer than we want to believe. But even with that said, she's beating the anti-ICE drum plenty as even a cursory glance at her media shows. So what are we talking about?

I get your point, but I live in red flyover country, and it’s kinda sad that so many people don’t see the humanity in those fighting for freedom and justice in Minnesota. But they do see their pocketbooks

I think everyone has their own way to understand this, the point is to be glad they are at least pushing back, even if it seems utterly weak.

A) Americans are selfish af and cost of living is always a winning message. B) she has spoken about ice but if you are suggesting she only talks about it and nothing else then you are clueless about how to win an election.

Even if Democrats want to take advantage of inflation to win elections, *everybody already knows prices are up*. You don't have to tell us. We buy things. Publicize the Republican misdeeds that voters *don't* automatically learn about just by going to the grocery store.

You suggest a false choice. It leaves the impression that this politician has not made statements on both issues. Why not both messages? Varying your messages and subject-matter to reach different constituencies is an effective political tactic.

I get that in theory, but it kind of makes it sound like you view them with equal weight. If I said "I got fired and my house burned down, and also I stubbed my toe" you'd probably raise an eyebrow, right

‘why not both’ is always the right answer to these kinds of choice questions, because what is important to you and me will not resonate with everyone. it’s not equating the two, it’s maximizing the number of people you influence

Everyone’s mad at you for this but you’re right. But you I think you are underestimating how much the average American hog cares about their treats. Probably cynical but I truly think they care more about the fact that a snicker bar cost more than brown people in concentration camps. 🤷

Looks like 8 of her last 11 posts have been about ICE in Minnesota. What’s your goal in making it seem like she’s ignoring ICE when it’s the majority of her messaging?

I fear Klobuchar being in a position of power because her immediate ideological predecessor spent the previous month of Kristallnachts going "Somebody needs to do something about this!" while being the literal fucking Governor.

I think she should be allowed to make positive posts too, such as wishing her husband a happy Valentine’s Day and celebrating her constituents succeeding at the Olympics. But at the very least, no one should pretend she’s never talking about ICE when it’s by far most of what she’s saying

it's really wild being from minnesota and having all my neighbors unified and caring for each other like never before, and then have our elected officials completely miss the opportunity like this. she's probably going to be our next governor and it's so depressing

I'll let you know in three weeks when my polling firm and my strategy committee have weighed in. I love hearing from my constituents and it's people like you who make the work worthwhile! Can I have $5?

As hilarious and epic of a dunk as this is, would you perchance be surprised to find out that Klobuchar makes numerous posts about ICE all the time and that you and apparently hundreds of Bluesky users believe in a dumbshit false dichotomy?

I'm not a Klobuchar fan, but earlier that same day she posted about ICE. Also the day before and every day since. Here's my tip for the political "geniuses": Learn how to multitask.

Sure would be nice to have an actual opposition party, that would recognize that the Republicans are fascist, know fascists have to be destroyed, and would use Trump's deep unpopularity to destroy the Republican Party forever.

maybe we can connect the brutal murders with rising prices? "if Trump murders your children in the streets in cold blood, the funeral will be 27% more expensive than it would have been under the Biden administration."
