6/10 are outright horrifying and I just think it so stupid to say "perfect the computer", to presume it a limited thing we won't evolve across hopefully millenia. but I am a little envious, just of having some aggressively stated rally points. high scope high flying banner is alas not common.

Trust me, I'm very familiar with DHH and his shenanigans! I spent two decades working with/teaching Rails, which to some extent I have begun to regret. There's a certain category of "European who moves to the US to be more American than Americans" and that guy is their poster child

And for the record, I'm not talking about using agents to configure/fix your system. That's probably the sanest thing on that list. "Heritage is duty"? "Command is service"? What the fuck. What's next, "Arbeit macht frei"?

For me it's that "command" and "service" is quite military and grandiose, and they're also using it to mean "we have a BDFL" which doesn't really... explain the "service" part of it?

Dude has gone off the nazi deep end and it's really unfortunate. Catching justified criticism for backing his shithead engineer's toxic behavior back in the day sent him into a classic tech-bro grievance spiral.

“you’re somebody now (because you’re ingroup now and only so long as you still are)” as opposed to “every one is somebody” sure says a lot too imo

For the record, dhh is one of its kind at that level. Being technologically literate and/or being a software engineer doesn't have to mean being part of a misantrophic horror cult.

I'm all for "benevolent dictatorship" because I think thats just a good way to keep a consistent vision for a project but using that term for yourself and in earnest is very weird. The focus is supposed to be on "benevolent" and not on "dictator"

Also if their main value proposition is "you can just buy me instead of having to deal with the annoying OSS wokies", I question their understanding of the word "benevolent"

"Beauty is truth" "Heritage is duty" "Command is service" "Hold the line" "You're somebody now" this is like. textbook alt-right/fascist doctrine.

Daily reminder that David Heinemeier Hansson, dhh, the creator of Omarchy has openly and explicitly fascist worldview and is butthurt about people recognizing it and acting in response.
