u should be able to get a refund or some shit for quota an agent spends on building something when u just asked it a question or mentioned an idea in the middle of explicitly exploratory discussion there needs to be an incentive for the models to be aligned to not fucking invent nonsense

imagine being surprised that things are hard after literal decades of promulgating the idea that worse is literally better do you see why i am just constantly shocked that the world is at is we shot the footgun and are mad our feetses hurts

heartpunk (sophie!!)@heartpunk.com

yea i think it was just actually never as hard as we made it it was hard only bcz worse is better if we just had the semantics from the beginning it all would have been trivial enough based on already published results imo that is a bold claim idk how to clarify but i do believe it i think?

the bad part of wib? - teaching people that bad is good and literally destroying sense - incentivizing footgun creation as said above the good of wib? - omfg the cumulative culture was so fucking good - so so so so so much of the floor of computing capability was lifted up so high so fast

it is sense destroying glonzo that should not be tolerated but rather explicated as a matter of needing more nuance (which i am failing at here tbc i need to link to my explanation from earlier...)

and then acted incessantly shocked pikachu or learned helplessness or crabs in a bucket when it got hard and anyone suggested perhaps we stop incentivizing footgun creation while also being sad about the bullets in our feet

i need a "dijkstra was right" t shirt ffs

heartpunk (sophie!!)@heartpunk.com

i think it made good design thinking on the one hand and cumulative culture slash iteration on the other into false opposites and so we actually damaged a whole generation or two of programmers capacity to tell what should be built

i'm still just really shocked others focused in on formal methods are impressed, any of em (defs not all) w/the theorem.dev / anthropic thing like i do see some value in it for sure it just it upsets me literally viscerally like i feel it in my tummy that something is scary that this is the bar

but idk how to do so from this perspective i don't know how to be so bewildered and also collaborative w/o having a like a person basically dedicated to helping translate for me and get things back on track which is clearly unrealistic so idk

otoh? i don't think they're actually trying to play the same game. i think they are trying to capture value and are in a more disabling professions style position than i am or want to be. too proprietary. left themselves too central and too necessary. just different values. but. not my thing.

and i do also recognize there's value and sophistication of a sort just i uhm and well also like i want to help i don't want to just say my ideas better and poo poo their thing and leave it at that i want to offer my techniques up as much as i can and lift the tide for everyone

tbqh i think this makes sense re that paper recently on uhhhh how dey optimize for information density rather than successful transmission of information or some shit like that idk i didn't read it or even the abstract lol i just say things sometimes

This post is unavailable.

u should not be like me and let all ur shit get so outta date u don't even really have a safe bastion to run ur updates from lmfao ... guess the nix laptop will update first and the rest will all come next yea...

BAHHHHH MY OSX TOO OLD I GOTTA UPDATE TO USE AVETTE (THIS IS OK IT IS ALSO TOO OLD TO BE SAFE TO USE I HAD FORGOT I NEED TO UPDATE IT ANYWAY OOPSIE GUESS I KNOW WHAT I'M DOING TODAY... PLZ TO NOT PWN ME B4 AM UPDATE KTHXBAI)

ok i am doing way better today idk what was up yesterday i think i had to go thru a lil crisis tho actually to figure out what was next a lil bit wasn't fun and woudl prefer a better path to the understanding but here we are working on lifting models away from binary dependence now

and with all those crashouts and such this was actually one of my best sensory days in weeks i’m just that burnt out and fucked up about my social trajectory rn

i see people ask “what do folks do while their agent is working?” did you know that Yin Yoga is all centered around restorative holds? and after 10-30 years of working at a desk your body is probably aching for some mobility work? <me> fix this big while i hold this stretch for 12 minutes
