a lot of the criticism toward deno regarding its eventual failure is the fact that it overemphasized existing compatibility instead of continuing to innovate. seems fair for an open source project with no dedicated paid staff to remove time consuming and perpetual debt of supporting those features

Already removed: Deploy, KV, Jupyter, and Node/npm. Roadmap: Per-module permissions, sandboxes for untrusted code, post-quantum crypto in Web Crypto, better binary output, &c.

At some point, Ende will be feature-complete and chasing trendy features is non-sensical. The focus will then transition to making Ende the best runtime with the best DX and security.
