Several weeks ago, Phil Tippett's legendary animation studio in Berkeley, CA closed. An anonymous hero noticed a folder of CDs. This turned out to be hundreds of unseen hi-res images and videos from Star Wars, Robocop, Jurassic Park, etc. ~90 isos for you to browse: archive.org/details/tipp...

Suddenly occurring to me that I might be the weird one for knowing that that's the Tantive IV, a Corellian corvette :/

Just a total treasure trove of unseen behind the scenes images, high res production stills, PR imagery, etc. Almost lost to time, but luckily grabbed by an eagle-eyed person who was interested in preservation, and now it's available for everyone. Preservation is important!

I look forward to seeing all the articles and videos this will spawn! Then someone else can explain who those star wars fellas are instead of me embarrassing myself in the alt text~

It's gone by multiple names, but probably most people are familiar with the name "Rebel Blockade Runner" for the first vessel that appears in A New Hope. In-universe, it's more of an alias, since it's officially produced as a CR90 corvette by Corellian Engineering Corporation.

I'm going to pretend I didn't read the first part about the studio closing and invite everyone who hasn't seen Mad God to check out this masterpiece while the files are downloading.

Why protecting #physicalmedia regardless if it's #games on an #Xbox #switch or #Playstation Or #Music on #vinyl #CD Or #movies on #DVD & #Blu-ray

Good to see the picture (bald man pointing at CRT screen) that launched a thousand digital effects publicity poses. I feel compelled to post this classic meta image, a witty satire of wheels within wheels, that graced the pages of Cinefex 77.

What I find interesting is that they were already on disk. I guess they're portfolios since some are labeled as that, but it means someone had to get told to go scan film or prints and; and spent an enormous amount of time dealing with that process.
