Feels like every hotel, airplane, car, new home, etc implemented standard USB ports and literally the same year the entire tech world changed over to USB-C

I remember when I finally got a vehicle that played 8-track tapes. Just when cassette tape machines came out...finally got a car with a cassette player and CD's became the game.

That is usb its usb c. You’re looking for a usb a. That port is becoming obsolete. Type C is a much better port except for all the different flavors but all usb types have that issue.

I honestly would love it if electrical items would be USB-C standard the world over too. Obviously not everything can due to physics and electrical rates. But for common items it would be nice to just have smaller wires and electrical outlets of four USB-C. I know I changed my kitchen for these.

It shouldn't be surprising. Look up the International Telecommunications Union and how they are the authority that sets global standards for companies to implement.

I guess I just didn't specify in the reply. I meant to Apple and their past (sticking with Lightning, then at some point, poof! USB-C rule from the EU).

Everyone has probably said this but there are adapters. Yes, USB-C is faster in a data sense, but if you're just charging, they are both 5V. How fast you charge depends on the adaptors current (Watts) and not the connector.

I wouldn’t mind as much if hadn’t also corresponded with the ‘we don’t have to give you anything to plug in the wall’ which means I had to scrounge my house to figure out how to change my earbuds when I bought them bc they only came with cable

And obviously they'll find something better than USB-C right after I swap out all my outlets from USB-A to C. Because when I added USB-A outlets everywhere is exactly when they became outdated.

On the one hand, USB-A to USB-C wires are really cheap. You can get them for £5 on Amazon. On the other hand, plugging a data device into an untrusted USB port isn't always safe. So be wary depending on where it is... (It's probably fine for power only devices like earphones...)

And all United Air flights only play Fox News in the air. Do you have any idea of the trauma I was subjected to flying from the east coast to Hawaii? I'm still in therapy. #antifox #resistance

Yup! Got in my VW 2017 Beetle and tried to hook up my iPhone 16. Crap. Had to order a new cord with USB end. I now have a drawer full of cords again for AppleTV remote, fans, lights, headphones, ear buds…..

There must be a concerted effort to adapt wireless technology (as the automakersdid for parts based only on brand) to limit connections based on Apple-only vs. Android-only exclusivity & make them universal. Please!

I'm way behind. I was just looking at new laptops and found out about the USB-c ports, along with micro-sd slots (all my cameras use SD cards). I will have to get adapters for both.

Hey, I mean... The whole issue being discussed stems from the fact that Apple wants to make the whatever predominant standards unusable for its users, and so, even when forced into using USB-C, turns to unorthodox solutions such as USB-C chargers and USB-C/USB-C cables.

That standard was announced in 2012 and was common for all android based devices within a few years. Even my old iPad and Macbook Air are all UBS-C. Apple's greed driven refusal to be interoperable is the problem here.

EVERY vendor says to hook their hard drive, keyboard, mouse, scanner, mic, deck, etc to computer, not hub. Yet #Apple keeps eliminating USB-A ports. If ya want us to use USB-C, provide the proper cables! Using an adapter affects speed. Often gear must be used with their cables, not adapters nor hubs

Not only that, #Apple created top of the line Mac Studios+ Minis w/less + less USB-A ports. Professionals have TONS of hard drives,a scanner, camera, printer, microphone, streaming deck for shortcuts, keyboard + mouse (NOT Apple toy sized shit) with 2 to 4 USB-C ports!? Apple is insanely cruel! 🤬😬

Used to travel alot for Uncle Carried and still carry a kit, about the size of my shaving kit, to extend outlets, convert plugs and all Remember when we used to clip the hardwire telephone and install RJ5 type connectors so we could connect our early portable computers

Cars, too! We purchased a new CRV this year that uses USB to connect to Apple Car Play. I had to buy a USB/USB-C compatible cord to use Car Play in my new car with my new phone.
