If we get forbidden math in the end the e/accs have no one to blame but themselves bsky.app/profile/mosk...

My view is basically that the "no regulations" crowd overplayed their hand; they don't like the current regime either even if it's not currently aimed at them. Now there is a much wider Overton window for regulation, e.g. states are passing things today that were anathema a year ago.

There are criminal jail sentences for food safety law violations and industrial accidents, they're rarely used because people act to comply with the law and avoid them. But a regulation without teeth is pointless.

as much as this shit can please the defense people while actually unraveling consent for any possible war the better, imo.

it says not more than, which seems reasonable as a maximum sentence if you consider AI development a similar existential risk to something like Nuclear weapons research

i would assume the average sentence would be less than half, even 1/10th of that, and the maximum is set that high for extreme offenders (bernie wants to imprison sam altman soo bad)

Quite bad, but I'll give Sanders this: this is the only thing I've seen from him that I've disagreed with. He's still fantastic on practically everything else. But this is just dumb.

AI Safety is mainly a niche cult for very smart and altruistic boys and girls who have moderate beliefs on nuclear holocaust

i mean jeeze, how are we even measuring human cognitive performance? if i make a model specifically for solving raven’s progressive matrices puzzles, is it illegal if it scores more than 100 on an iq test, even if that’s literally the only thing it does?
