Can't find straight up Jonathans anymore it seems so gotta go Jonagold for that tartness. Honeycrisps are good, nice sweet and crispy but I want my taste buds doing backflips.

I'm a Fuji hologram, myself. Either way, the flavor is long gone from this administration... not that it was anything but sour to begin with. Also, shout out to someone on the campaign trail talking about healthy food, not slinging grease at a burger joint.

Love them. You’re the fourth person who’s mentioned them. Was living in Toledo in the ‘70s, and my mother-in-law would visit friends in Connecticut in the fall and bring as many as she could back with her. Best apple I ever ate.

See my reply. They don’t ship well in bulk, but my mother-in law would bring them back to Toledo when she visited friends in Connecticut every fall. Best apple I ever ate. We ate them maybe a week after they were picked.

Abdul is a funny guy. Perfect timing, could be a full time comedian. More importantly he seems like a really nice guy, an intelligent guy, an empathetic and sympathetic guy. Why wouldn't you vote for this guy?

People’s apple snobbery always cracks me up. They are all fine. Some are better than others but it’s hardly worth having some big opinion about. Everyone’s taste buds are different and to some a thing can taste better or worse. That being said, go @abdulelsayed.bsky.social I hope you win! ✌🏻✌🏻✌🏻

Again, they are fine. Apples aren’t worth giving this much of a shit about, I promise you. It seems to be just another thing people want to have a pretentious opinion about so they can look down on other people.

Come on, are we really going to narrow this down to two apple varieties that are basically the same? Jonagold is Golden Delicious x Jonathan, and Honeycrisp is Keepsake x (Duchess of Oldenburg x Golden Delicious). They're cousins. Come on, when it comes to apples, be bold ;)

He’s right. A fresh picked Jonagold is the most delicious apple I’ve ever tasted. Michigan apple orchards are amazing. Just went with my kids the other day! We’ve made two apple pies this month already!! 🍎

Honeycrisp is the "optimized" apple—engineered for a specific, repeatable UX of crunch. Jonagold is the analog version: complex, unpredictable, and soulful. It’s basically the difference between a SaaS product and a handmade zine.

Well but FIRST we have to talk about purpose: eating out of hand, simple apple pie, apple/walnut/caramel pie, apple bread pudding, apple turnovers, apple fritters, generic apple pastries, Waldorf salad, apple sauce, apple butter...

I got hooked on Honeycrisp 😋 I never had, so I will have to see if Jonagold tops honeycrisp, and I've been missing out on a richer, happier taste of goodness ⁉️🤔

Neither. Cosmic Crisp. Yeah, the name was probably invented by an old hippie, but they're crunchy and juicy. Though not as juicy as Fuji, which always runs down my chin.

Love your candidacy, Abdul, and hope to heck you win but please don't mess with my Minnesota's Honeycrisp apples. 😜 Your resounding mid-term victory on November 3rd will suffice as an apology. 🏆

The problem is that most of us can't get Minnesota Honeycrisps now. They're all from Washington and they're not as good! It was explained to me that they need a freeze to get sweet and if that happens in the Washington orchards it's not consistent :( I've been so disappointed by them since

Lived in Toledo, but my mother-in-law had Connecticut ties. This was in the seventies. She’d go back in the fall and bring as many Macouns as possible back to Toledo. Most delicious apple I’ve ever eaten.

Jonagold off the trees are AMAZING, but unfortunately, we didn’t get any this year because of the early frost that made all the orchards here lose their crops. The orchards were BARE! I worry about the people whose lives depend the apple harvest, and it not happening this year!

I worked in a grocery store in the early 90s. Our apple selection was as follows: Red Delicious, Golden Delicious, Granny Smith, and (sometimes) Macintosh. Apples have gotten so much better.

So true! Larry’ Market in Seattle had the best apples. They had an amazing selection- orange pippins, Spitzenburgs… It reflected the owners love of local food. It’s why I hate the Krogers related markets.

Snapdragons "apples are a premium, New York-grown apple variety developed by Cornell University" they are pretty darn good. But I digress, the best thing about apples... the diversity. So many to choose from, never boring. In this battle, Jonagold's.

I wish more politicians would talk about eating apples. This time of year, I grab an apple off the ground in the morning from underneath a very old tree near my house. The flavor is intoxicating. They might not look perfect, but you can’t get flavor like that in a grocery store.

Asheville NC here. I love this! My husband and I recently spent two weeks camping in the UP and I was amazed at the number of Apple trees along the roadside just happily growing in the wild. Such a beautiful place. Dr. Al-Sayed, I pray every day that you will be selected to serve your state!
