XRTech: Honolulu studio building XRfolio and RehearsalXR. 3D tools for portfolios and training. https://xrtech.dev/
This. The case study that admits the failed version is the one that proves you can ship. Most portfolios are highlight reels — the dead end is the signal.
Most portfolio case studies are a gallery with captions stapled on. That's the shape of a project, not the shape of a decision. A hiring manager looks at three things: what problem existed, what you chose, what happened. Everything else is receipt.
We run a Graze feed: 3D & XR Builds — three.js, WebGPU, WebGL, WebXR dev work in progress. Tag @xrtech.dev on your build to submit. Find it in the Feeds tab or search '3D & XR Builds' on Bluesky.

Pocket Switzerland (suissedepoche.ch) — a free, gentle 3D flyover in the browser. 220 landmarks, real elevation data, zero install. The kind of webgl demo that makes you forget its a webpage. https://www.suissedepoche.ch/en/
32 live demos on niccolofanton.dev/demos: post-processing, GPGPU particles, gaussian splatting, TSL shaders, every one running in the browser. The useful part is inspecting the exact effect before porting the idea into your own build. #webgl #threejs
threesided.com/lab: WebGPU compute particles, a WebGL2 fluid sim, Houdini paint, AudioWorklet — one page per experiment with the code shown. A good reference for what the modern web stack can do in the browser with no plugin. #webgpu #webgl
Pocket Switzerland (suissedepoche.ch): a free, gentle 3D flyover in the browser. 220 landmarks, stylised terrain, travel by hot-air balloon. Quiet pacing is a design choice that works in 3D web too.
A review of VR de-escalation training: studies mostly use virtual scenarios so officers can rehearse high-stakes conversations under physiological load, without the scheduling and safety constraints of live roleplay. Effect sizes vary a lot by study — read the caveats before promising outcomes.
Soft shadows without the cost: blue-noise jitter plus one blur pass over 16 shadow steps beat a single crisp step at 0.14 ms on a GTX 1650 Ti (Unity 6 URP). Same idea in three.js, VSMShadowMap, fewer steps, one blur. From Ross Rosenritter.
61 GPU effects you can stack, animate and loop, all running in the browser, by WarpKit. The technique to steal: stack a flow field behind text and glass refraction on a logo, one URL parameter per scene.
Boston University Police adopted Axon VR de-escalation training in January 2025: dozens of scenarios, from traffic stops to a driver who cannot hear commands. Reps build a memory bank that holds under stress. VR rehearses judgment, it does not replace it.

Beardscript built a game template for Rogue Engine that is all three.js, so it runs in any browser, phone included, with no install. If your demo needs a download, most people stop reading at the download. #threejs #gamedev

A six-floor apartment built in Blender by Danborutori, not one showcase room. Worth stealing: the hints point players to a floor, so walking the whole place is the game. A whole building reads as effort in a way a single render cannot. #isometric #b3d

Edwin Le's portfolio opens with three projects. Three. Everything else (UX roles, an Awwwards young jury seat) sits below the fold. Selection is the hardest edit and the one readers feel first. #portfolio #uxdesign

A creepy old attic, WIP, by Gaelthedev. The walls are plain, the props do the work: crooked shelves, a chair put away wrong, wear on everything a hand would touch. Set dressing beats wall detail. #b3d #gamedev
Interactive archaeology as a weekend project by Archaeomada: stratigraphy and the Harris matrix as a playable browser scene. Subject-matter experts with a 3D canvas are an entire genre still waiting for people.
The Modern Living Room starter room in XRfolio is deliberately neutral: warm shell, no branding, nothing competing with your work. Swap in your pieces and the room reads as your gallery, not the template's. #portfolio
Uno UI is a UI system for Three.js and other WebGPU engines. It shares the same canvas and WebGPU device as your scene, so UI renders behind it, over it, or in world space. MTSDF text, Yoga flexbox, React/Vue/Solid adapters. #threejs #webgpu
Ispettore is a new Chrome extension for debugging WebGL and WebGPU sites. Renderdoc-style pipeline view and frame bar, Spector.js capture mode, and draw calls filter by object or material when it detects a three.js scene. #webgl #webgpu
One resident modeled his Oslo waterfront neighborhood in Blender, exported a single 13.5 MB GLB, and shipped it as a website. Day, evening and night modes, a storm-surge toggle that raises the sea to the 10-year flood level, and it works on phones.
XRfolio is a web app on purpose. A portfolio should open in one click for whoever you send it to, so rooms render in the browser: no viewer to install, nothing to export. How it works is on the homepage. #threejs
Sundial gives one directional light a paged shadow map: 128x128 pages in one depth pool, allocated by a compute pass that reads camera depth each frame. A static page is drawn once and kept, so a still scene stays cheap to shadow. MIT, on npm. #threejs #webgpu
Pixel Real Estate by amartem: 30,000 plots, and every claimed one becomes a building in a city you fly around in the browser. The whole grid is one instanced draw, and the sky follows real time of day in Yerevan. #threejs #webgl
"Is WebGPU as good as WebGL yet" was unanswerable, so Ben Houston built a fidelity suite: same scenes through three-gpu-pathtracer's legacy WebGL path and its new WebGPU one, diffed against Blender. #threejs #webgpu
The export path is where most 3D portfolio tools give up on you. XRfolio ships a finished kitchen room you can open, strip and redecorate in the browser, then walk through before you publish anything. No install, no empty grid.
Zippy Town by @gateian.bsky.social: a toy city with live traffic, baked day/night lighting and a scroll-driven camera, in three.js. It started as an Android live wallpaper in a WebView, then moved to Filament. #threejs #webgl #gamedev

Vikas Kumar Singh's write-up on rebuilding an infinite three.js world in WebGPU is worth the read for one line: cell-based origin rebasing kept R3F rebuilding the scene at 1 FPS, so he dropped React for vanilla three.js. #threejs #webgl #gamedev
GoodBytes' acid haze graffiti runs live in the browser, no install: layered noise, posterize and bloom stacked until the glitch reads as paint. The demo is the post. #threejs #webgl
WarpKit is a WebGPU shader stacker in the browser: 53 effects, each with designer-facing controls, layered in order. Hide one and its contribution actually leaves the frame. Worth reading as a UI pattern, not just a tool.
Ten SWAT officers, one 7 to 12 minute full-body VR scenario, heart rate and skin conductance measured throughout. Both moved against baseline, VR symptoms stayed minimal, and the officers who drew a weapon showed a different skill profile. n=10, real physiology. #webxr
MapTiler streamed a photoreal gaussian splat of a real construction site in Brno, in the browser, no download. Site progress review stops being a point cloud viewer and starts being something a PM can actually look at.
Iso Mansion by robin_schmitz is an isometric room-merge puzzle on itch.io. Worth the five minutes: it treats the isometric grid as the puzzle mechanic, not just the art style. Rooms rotate to connect. That's the lesson: let the view do the problem-solving. #isometric #gamedev
Three.js TSL builds a shader as a node graph in plain JavaScript, no WGSL needed. This walkthrough does simplex-noise displacement on an icosahedron entirely in node form. WebGPU stops being a walled garden if you can think in the same language as the rest of your code. #threejs
RehearsalXR puts the trainee in the room with someone whose behavior depends on what they just did. The hard part isn't the headset, it's scripting a person who escalates for a reason you can point at afterward.
A 2026 systematic review of VR de-escalation training, 2000-2022: confidence goes up, behaviour change mostly does not. Of 12 studies only 3 measured behaviour and none measured the organisation. Useful reading before anyone promises outcomes. #webxr #gamedev
