Interesting, I was shown a paywall while accessing an article on the BBC News page and it was legitimate. I do value the content and would be maybe willing to pay up, but for that price, I would expect access to the iPlayer.

You may not be in a position to fight the American Gestapo but you can take video of them, wave your middle finger at them, and show that Americans will not meekly surrender to them.

🧵 THREAD: A federal whistleblower just dropped one of the most disturbing cybersecurity disclosures I’ve ever read. He's saying DOGE came in, data went out, and Russians started attempting logins with new valid DOGE passwords Media's coverage wasn't detailed enough so I dug into his testimony:

Feel free to dunk on Lisa Murkowski all you like but in fairness, the pull quote misses a lot of context. She’s asked “What do you have to say to people who are afraid” and she replies “I’m often afraid to speak up but that’s the job you gave me to do, so here’s how I’m doing it”.

Sen. Lisa Murkowski (R): "We are all afraid…I am oftentimes very anxious myself about using my voice because retaliation is real."

The last time the attorney general publicly accused someone of being a top gang leader, the Justice Department quickly asked to drop all of its charges against him rather than try to prove it in court.

Bondi is escalating the rhetoric against Abrego Garcia, who she calls "one of the top MS-13 members" and "a terrorist"

HAPPENING NOW: At the federal courthouse in Greenbelt, Maryland, Judge Paula Xinis is set to begin a hearing on the government’s efforts – or lack thereof – to “facilitate” the return of Kilmar Abrego Garcia, a Maryland resident who was wrongly removed to El Salvador. Follow along for updates ⬇️

You have to admit it’s a pretty funny bit for the USA to say it’s powerless to infringe on El Salvador’s sovereignty while at the time it’s threatening to invade several countries

A little while ago, my parents' cat Bridget went missing. As the weeks dragged on, they became extremely worried. My dad devised a way to distract himself: he began to paint Bridget's adventures, imagining her travelling through time and popping up in some of art and music's most iconic scenes.

NYU canceled a planned speech by the former president of Doctors Without Borders because she planned to discuss the humanitarian crisis in Gaza and cuts to US AID. This is what actual campus censorship looks like.

It's critical for everyone to remember what an Executive Order is. It is the President communicating orders to members of the executive branch. Policies to pursue, actions to take, etc. They are not laws. They are not close to being laws. They are formalized memos to employees. That's all.

If you really want to hurt Musk, just don't buy Teslas at all. Trade in your Tesla if you can. Hurts him exponentially more. If you must protest, do it peacefully and don't prevent people from entering the showrooms, but you should feel free to mock them for picking a nazimobile.

I have no brief for the people using violence or even vandalism. (Extremely few) But her screechy wombat outburst really serves to make the point: the full power of the state is now focused on protecting Elons dealerships, market cap and his shithole cars. Not the world anyone wants to live in.

As a former GC holder, this is why I did not leave the country during the Trump years. The lack of clear guidance and a permissive attitude from the government emboldens some of these immigration officers.

Chancellor Crystal Hines Martin of Hinds County, Mississippi has issued a prior restraint order so ludicrously unconstitutional it’s only consistent with deliberate misconduct or abject ignorance of the relevant law. Disgraceful and lawless. /1

Wow: City of Clarksdale, Mississippi got a court order yesterday directing a newspaper to delete an editorial criticizing city officials -- without a hearing. Here's the TRO issuing the prior restraint:

Probably obvious at this point. But quite clear that the deportees being sent to Gitmo aren't the "worst of the worst" but rather a more or less random selection of people being sent there to create a class of "worst of the worst" who are getting extra double punishment from Daddy Trump.

This is going to work out great, because President Trump knows all the best laws and can apply them powerfully. And if you think about it, what does the FCC really know about communications really? It’s not like they had a successful prime time show.

One can tell Bluesky has gone mainstream by the amount of pornbots who follow you. To be fair to bsky, it is obvious they are doing work to kick them out. I see many of them mysteriously disappear.
