This infuriates me. This delusional dipshit will get treated like a living saint on the Right for the next decade. Then we’ll find out he’s abusive or watches child porn or whatever. The predictability of this bullshit is further proof of de-evolution.

"Talk about testosterone!" Apparently, this guy met Manly MAGA Jesus in Heaven...

I’m 20 minutes into Obsession (I know, I’m late), but Bear just fucking sucks. As someone with INTENSE rejection sensitivity, I get it the underlying dynamic. But she literally handed him the opportunity he wanted on a platter. I hope he dies.

the thing about having actual principles is that when a politician I respect does some stupid shit I can just be like, “that sucks, knock it off” instead of inventing an imaginary world where I’m forced to defend stupid shit for procedural 4d chess reasons

The nice thing about being a person who takes honesty seriously is that in trying to live a life where lying is unnecessary, you strive to become a better person in reaction to all the times you’ve had to face your failures head on.

Don’t make kids adjudicate fights amongst each other. Let them explain the disagreement, then explain what you see as a grown up. Be fair about it. This eventually teaches them how to have civil disagreements much better than leaving them to child logic. Also, this song. youtu.be/kYAkcL36aCE?...

america's reactionaries would love nothing more to nullify the reconstruction amendments and render them a dead letter of the constitution. this was as true in 1873 as it is today.

jamelle@jamellebouie.net

i think it is a testament to the inherent radicalism of the reconstruction amendments that the supreme court’s main project with regards to them has been to limit and weaken their impact on american society.

If you zoom out just a little it’s dead obvious how the 6 justices in black robes are fighting for the same cause as the guys in white robes 100 years ago and the guys in gray coats 160 years ago

Fuck off, rapist.

Congressman Eric Swalwell has released a new video saying that allegations of sexual violence against him are false. He also says that he has made mistakes in recent years, but that those mistakes are between him and his wife.

PLATNER IS LITERALLY STILL OPENLY USING THE "R" WORD IN CASUAL CONVERSATION. TODAY.

This thread is a wealth of Catholic context. I wasn’t aware that right wing converts are that big a thing now. I’ve resisted returning to the church, but I might be willing to do it out of antifascist spite.

I came to protest in South St. Louis County rather than the big one downtown and the honking hasn’t stopped by passing cars since I got here at 11:00. But I’ve only seen four MAGA tantrums. The crowd is on average older than the downtown crowds I’ve been among. America is PIIIIIIIISSSSSSSED.

To me Judaism is about a shared culture & religion that stresses that we were once oppressed, we remain a small minority, so no matter how assimilated or successful we may be: we must always fight for civil liberties & civil rights & the opportunity that comes from scholarship & community engagement

I can’t believe I have to explain this, but “The Jews” didn’t start this war, Netanyahu did. He’s no more a representative of Judaism than JD Vance and Steve Bannon are representative of Catholicism.

I've been an @warren.senate.gov fan since I read "The Two Income Trap" over a decade ago and started buying copies for friends and family. This is a betrayal of basic decency and won't be forgiven or forgotten without a public mea culpa. No Senate seat is worth white-washing the Nazi tattoo guy.

“It is critically fucking important that I get to remain sheltered and ignorant of the reality of workplace discrimination!” How whiny do you have to be to go this hard at corporate attempts at DEI? How pathetic do you have to be to decry workplace harassment training? Grow the fuck up, Chucky!

gallandguile@gallandguile.bsky.social

It is critically fucking important to get that people hated that stuff - and the general business Maoism shift of Late Woke - because of how incredibly insulting and demeaning it is to be lectured about your personal culpability in inequality by your evil corporate overlords. That's what sucked

Is this an admission that when Noem and Trump name their enemies that they are deliberately increasing threats?

Aaron Rupar@atrupar.com

VAN SUSTEREN: The church -- that's a particularly troubling issue because you got a pastor, I purposely didn't name it, he's reportedly associated with ICE NOEM: Thank you for not naming him. People don't realize that when you keep naming someone over and over, you increase the threats against them

On that last post: I genuinely cannot think of any good-faith reason to bar international adoptions from those 39 countries. Under this new ban, consulates will refuse adoption visas for any baby from Cuba, Haiti, Venezuela, Nigeria, or any of the 39 other countries.

This might be a little galaxy-brained, but I'm starting to think those who want to eliminate autism are largely driven by the fact that autistic people have ZERO problem pointing out moral or ethical lapses in their peers, which is something amoral and unethical people HATE.

Note that when Trump builds The Beast all the right-wing conspiracies about government tracking completely evaporate.

JUST IN: The Department of Homeland Security says it intends to add state driver’s license information to a swiftly expanding federal system envisioned as a one-stop shop for checking citizenship, raising concerns about privacy and accuracy. www.propublica.org/article/dhs-...

Someday, we need to have a conversation about how conflict-averse people cede the political landscape to those who don’t care about your life, let alone your feelings. As I aged, my politics have moved further left, but my willingness to share my passionate opinions in public has waned.

Let’s say Platner was drunk when he got the tattoo in 2007. So what? Was he drunk for the next 17 years as he saw it on his own chest in the bathroom mirror every morning? If I get drunk and get a Pikachu tattoo on my chest, I can’t be offended 17 years later when people assume I’m into Pokémon.

I would pay good money for a livestream of Crockett and AOC taking Trump’s cognitive test live. Read the questions out loud for all the world to hear how fucking ridiculously basic this shit is.

Aaron Rupar@atrupar.com

Trump: "They have Jasmine Crockett -- a low IQ person. AOC is low IQ. Have her pass the exams I decided to take when I was at Walter Reed. They're cognitive tests. Let AOC go against Trump. Let Jasmine go against Trump. The first couple questions are easy -- a tiger, an elephant, a giraffe ... "

Anyone else notice MAGA clamoring for Jones to resign but not Platner? 🤔

Andrew Cuomo’s campaign just posted — and quickly deleted — this AI-generated ad depicting “criminals for Zohran Mamdani.” Features a Black man in a keffiyeh shoplifting, an abuser, a trespasser, a trafficker, a drug dealer, and a drunk driver all declaring support for Mamdani.

I like Senators who've never required a literal coverup for their Nazi past.

I have seen a lot of people downplaying the Platner stuff as "he wasn't even that appealing" or "he didn't even have a chance of winning" And I wish we wouldn't do that. I think that really undercuts the clear moral statement: Even if he was a guaranteed win, he should still be out. End of story.
