A reminder, because it is almost that time of year: More children are killed by cars on Halloween than any other day of the year, by far. www.vox.com/future-perfe... If you're a parent, I hope you'll do what you can to keep kids safe. If you're driving on Saturday, PLEASE exercise extra caution.

"Kids are fonts of misinformation. Anyone can see that the floor is not lava. That is plainly not a fort. Those are cushions. If you wanted erroneous information presented to you in a confident way, you would be asking ChatGPT. At least it has the decency to grovel."

The dielectric constant is just a multiplier. A vacuum is exactly 1. Dry air is 1.00059. Rubber is 3.0, so a rubber dielectric gives you 3 times the capacitance a vacuum would. That is all it tells you. youtu.be/KL-GfLDGmN8 #iTeachPhysics #Physics #Science #EduSky #APPhysics

A spectacular X-ray tribute to a fantastic NASA mission. Swift has perhaps weeks left before it burns up during re-entry to Earth's atmosphere, after two decades of chasing the universe's biggest stellar explosions. badastronomy.beehiiv.com/p/an-x-ray-t... 🔭 🧪

I appreciate all the nice comments on the new webcam page I have developed! I am working on some new tools beyond the webcams page as well, so stay tuned for that. theauroraguy.com/pages/webcams
The same image cropped. A longer focal length would be nice, but less portable. Egypt may have restrictions on bringing in telescopes. The Askar SQA55 looks more like a telephoto lens so I should have less trouble. 🤞#astrophotography www.facebook.com/groups/2027t...

This was Yandy Diaz's face when my former student Hunter Bigge gave me a shout out on the Rays Teacher Appreciation Day video in May. Yandy's stats during the playoffs show he knows more than enough about physics. You can see the whole video here: www.instagram.com/reel/DX9-Cwv... #ITeachPhysics

One of the many things I love about El-Sayed is that he's willing to engage with someone hostile if it gets them to admit the premises behind that hostility, to the extent that it becomes impossible to avoid the underlying bigotry. You want to go there, fine, but he's gonna make you own it.
This is Tommy. Tommy had a question about my allegiances. Listen to the end to hear about his.
