C++ teaches wonderful things, like that you should let your friends touch your privates

Just learning that Vimeo, a YouTube alternative, was bought by Bending Spoons, I am reminded of how important it is to leave Big Tech. Bending Spoons is Italian, so a step better than anything from the USA, but still, get on the path of freedom and join PeerTube instead!

joinpeertube.orgWhat is PeerTube? | JoinPeerTubeA free software to take back control of your videos! With more than 600,000 hosted videos, viewed more than 70 millions times and 150,000 users, PeerTube is the decentralized free software alternative...

It basically says that if you treat developers like humans they feel much better and therefore become more productive. This should be obvious and demand no scientific proof, but it is like it is, isn't it? :/

Reading The psychology of software teams by @grimalkina.bsky.social I constantly have to stop and contemplate my experience over the past 40 years and why the life of a software engineer is still so overlooked. "How do we convince our bosses to do more of these things that actually help us?"

"To everyone who choses building over breaking" Instead of threatening to replace software teams with AI, improve them! Make them humane and efficient. For this Cat Hicks' lovely book "The psychology if software teams" is a great start. Come study it!

In April 2005, Linux kernel devs lost access to their source control tool. Linus Torvalds' response? Build a brand-new distributed version control system from scratch. Within 10 days, Git was tracking itself. Today, it’s the global backbone of modern software development. bit.ly/4zyL0yf #Linux35

Found an interesting course on operating systems and already the introduction got me hooked with this lovely quote. No idea if it's an actually valid quote but the message is wise: As Confucius said: ’I hear and I forget. I see and I remember. I do and I understand.’

More important points: Doing the right thing beats doing things right. Efficiency vs effectiveness is the same as knowledge vs wisdom. => we must be wisely effective, not efficiently dumb

Read this over the weekend as I heard Helsinki is a quantum computing city! The book is a nice introduction, easy to read, and awakens your curiousity for more. Like the IQM Academy, which will be my next source. :)

I wrote a new book: Quantum Computing For Software Engineers. For those who'd like to learn about the realities of the industry, and consider joining it. QC architectures, software stack, compilers, pulse-level, and more. The book is FREE! Or you can pay what you want. leanpub.com/quantum-comp...

Does anybody know of any amp designs playing PDM through class D GaN FET to loudspeaker? I have just found PWM variants, like Peachtree GaN-1 or Orchad Audio's Starkrimson. Why destroy the signal through PCM? #hifi #highendaudio #electronics #GaN #amplifiers

PDM - the most perfect of signals A Pulse Density Modulated signal is a digital signal. But take off your glasses and it's analogue! The density of the 1's is kind of analogue and can therefore be played through a LP filter. I'd claim this is the reason it outperforms PCM, PWM or any other signal.

You have no (ignored) rounding errors like in PCM. And no analogue edges you'll miss, like in PWM. And the best studios today work in PDM so there is no need to destroy the "original" perfection!

No feedback. GaN. Love it. Now make the preamplifier part a separate box, feed two monoblocks over HDMI cables. This way the power supplies get separates, all the noicy Bluetooth and USB stuff get separated from the ampflification stages.

"Over the past decade, Google lobbyists met with the [EU] Commission at least 420 times, and spent well over 60 million euros on lobbying". Fuck Google.

Revealing story by @alexfanta.bsky.social in @ftm.nl. "Over the past decade, Google lobbyists met with the Commission at least 420 times, and spent well over 60 million euros on lobbying" And with an open end, given Trump's tariff threats against enforcement. www.ftm.eu/articles/goo...
