I don’t know the context but this is true.

What you have to understand is that for all the wacky stuff you have heard or read about Florida, the real thing is weirder yet

At the post office saw an old man looking for a packing envelope. Then I saw he was holding a copy of Amazing Fantasy #15 (first appearance of Spider-Man. “Is that real?” “Yeah, I’m sending it to a friend because I know it’ll make him happy and I don’t need it.” “Please insure that”

On one hand there's no reason to believe this stranger isn't making this up, on the other it's the exact kind of knowledge that someone whose bio starts with "hooper" would have in Colorado so who's to really say

Wow

James Elder@jameselder.bsky.social

Wow. I hadn’t realised how much LLMs had killed StackOverflow (the site where coders traditionally go to ask questions when they’re stuck): “Just before the launch of ChatGPT in 2022, there were more than 100,000 monthly questions asked on the site; last month, there were fewer than 1,500.”

DEVASTATING FLOOD Security camera footage shows the moment the flood crashes through the Nepal-China border. The flash flood wipes out everything in its path. People, houses, roads, and power projects were swept away in Nepal, while officials in Tibet said they feared “major casualties.”

This show was SO good. If you have Disney+, watch it, even if you care nothing about superheroes. You probably will enjoy it more if you don't care about Marvel.

I have never felt the desire to watch a television in a theater but I would attend this if it had been close. The show is so good and watching the final in a room full of others would be electrifying.

sometimes fantasy authors come up with the concept "there are things older than history and prehistory.. otherworldly things the human mind cant comprehend" and for Lovecraft that means "monster so freaky it drives you insane" and for Tolkien it means "some guy named Tom with an extremely fine wife"

Bin Day is coming!

Mark Chadbourn@chadbourn.bsky.social

Farage has just released a video begging Reform supporters to come to Clacton to help him win his unnecessary by-election. All going well in the Battle with the Bin then.

Jeez, as a reader of 2600 in the 90s, everyone knew you had to “air gap” to be be really secure. And even then you needed to take precautions.

If everything seems normal Friday, and Saturday is calm but there are some worries, but Friday comes around again. What am I supposed to worry about?

I had no idea what to expect going into this movie but left it moved, crying, laughing and ready to watch it again.

This is who you should listen to about how Kentucky would navigate the issue of a departed Senator. However, if they are undead, I'm your guy on how to navigate the issue.

Josh Douglas@joshuaadouglas.bsky.social

I've responded to a billion reporters in the last day (ok, maybe not actually a billion) about what happens if there is a KY Senate vacancy--which seems unnecessarily speculative in any event. And many reporters are wrong in saying there's a three-month deadline in the law. No such deadline exists.

Used Cars (1980) Watch it at least every 4th of July because it is pure distilled America. What makes America wonderful, awful, hopeful, crude, racist and inclusive, all wrapped in two hours. And we owned it on VHS when I was a kid and bare tits. So, yeah, I bet I have watched it more than anyone.

Happy 4th of July! I celebrated by fixing a robot, wearing the Declaration, working out the details for a ttrpg that isn't D&D and my youngest just asked where the fireworks are. America.

They might not be human. Could be emotional vampires that feed draining positive emotions and replacing them with negative ones. Sowing despair, isolation, fear and helplessness in order to weaken us. Easier prey. Or bots. I hope they are bots, or vampires, and not actual people.

these utterly dreary, hopeless people dead-set on trying to infect others with despair are genuinely my least favorite part of social media. at least an actively-offensive troll is displaying some recognizable spark of human vitality.
