Truly baffling the more I watch it. What’s an employer, the person who actually pays for the CoPilot license, supposed to get from this? That it’ll reward your laziest, most backstabbing team member while your highest contributor bleeds out from the constant leeching? Christ, this is bleak.

The first genuinely honest ad for generative AI I've ever seen, from Microsoft / CoPilot A mediocre white guy sees his non-white colleague getting praised for good work, he asks AI to *literally copy it*, and then he gets all the praise instead: www.ispot.tv/ad/SoDi/micr...

Did you know: the CEO of CostCo said that if anyone ever raised the price of the hot dog combo, he’d eradicate mankind from the earth with brilliant fire and salt the ashes so nothing could ever grow again, then remain, undying, to prevent new life from arising. It’s been $1.50 ever since!

“Homeless in Heathrow” was the DMCA-friendly song playing during the party scene in the game DISPATCH. When it came on, I literally jumped out of my seat with joy. I wish I’d had my camera on while I was streaming it. 😄

There’s something tragic and beautiful about people who make one good, life-altering work of art then fuck off forever. But it’s especially great if they take on a goofy name when they do it. Imagine if Harper Lee had written TO KILL A MOCKINGBIRD but called herself Fanny Sparkletits.

You don’t have enough RAM to build a gaming PC, but apparently you have enough CPU in your fridge to spawn a bite-size HAL 9000. Or maybe this is just the stupidest man in tech, and anyone who quotes him without rebuttal is committing journalistic malpractice, I ‘unno.

wrote on saturday that trump was not going to let democrats avoid the question of impeachment and here we are with an offense that would have had a president impeached, removed and *at least* exiled if it had happened at any point prior to now.

It’s not an exaggeration to say that we are handing our tech, our economy, our infrastructure to people who are openly hostile to the idea of our survival as a species. It is utterly insane.

DIGGER is great. Just be prepared for a very different movie than the marketing is letting on. (That's about all I can say without spoiling.) They're trying to set up your expectations so they can subvert them. I loved the bait-and-switch, personally, but I can see why the reception would be mixed.

Writing up a review, mainly around the climate change issues it tries to address. Weirdly, I don't see a lot of discourse about it (who knows where discourse is collectively happening anymore). But man, does it feel hit-or-miss.

"Sharks, what if I told you I have a product so good, it earns money just by people looking at it?" *reveals glock* "All I'm asking for is a small investment of whatever's in your pockets right now."

Not bringing a drink to a job interview is good practice for the inevitability of some jobs, which is that they are full of inane, arbitrary litmus tests in lieu of actual work.

I’m sorry, but if you bring an iced coffee - or any damn beverage at all - to a job interview, you’re disqualified. It’s not hard, people.

This warning from David Letterman to the media from just a year ago feels sadly too relevant today. He is right: You can't appease a tyrant.

The WB/Paramount merger is an oligarch’s dream media landscape and effectively ushers in an era of state-controlled media in America.

Alvaro M. Bedoya@bedoyausa.bsky.social

Today, billionaires yet again bribed, censored, and bullied their way to the top. As a result, a billionaire media company closely allied with the president will soon own one of its closest rivals, including some of the nation’s critical news outlets. Saudi Arabia will co-own those outlets, too.

Never forget the dramatic precursor to this was the purge of ideological mismatches like Stephen Colbert’s Late Show. They want to control the choke points of political discourse. And what better way to do it than to commandeer the many institutional tendrils of the legacy media corporations?

Thanos: “I’m going to snap half the universe out of existence so the other half doesn’t starve.” Wolverine: “Oh, yeah? Eat me, bub.” Thanos: “…on second thought…”

If you ate a chunk of Wolverine would it constantly regenerate so you’d never have to eat again?

Learning that being a good director means undoing the solipsism that drove my early creative life. As it turns out, you don’t always have to be the doer. Other people have the knowledge, passion, and work ethic to do things, too. Other people, with real brains and hearts and bodies. Go figure!
