sometimes i find myself looking at gunpla kits and wondering... could i take out the middle-joint part of the knee, extend it, and then flip the lower leg around to make decent digitigrade legs? maybe i should try that some time...

foggy memory of the day: does anyone know of any art (my brain is saying a miniature?) depicting a cowboy (or gunslinger etc) holding a gun upside down? something about lost fingers, using the pinkie to fire? my brain is saying Dark Tower for some reason but i am almost certain that's wrong lol

i feel like the source of this was somewhat popular? but also not a straightforward western. hence dark tower i guess was reminded of this while talking to someone about a western book where the protagonist loses some fingers and carves the handle of his gun so he can use it with his left hand

decided to replace some of my old and slightly busted citadel metallic paints with vallejo true metallics and man that colour selection is dangerous. i went for Light Rusty Metal and Base Arcane Gold (plus game colour dark gunmetal) but ough. i was really tempted by greenish gold and aged metal,,,,

Blender question for the morning: I have an irregular shape (a rock) that i want to uniformly increase in size, to make a hole that fits the original with a bit of space. Is there an easy way to do this that's robust to messy surface geometry and works for the *entire* object?

I tried using Extrude Along Normal but had a problem where it left behind the original shape inside (no idea why) and even after deleting that i still had some weird single points that weren't where they should have been... got it fixed up enough now, but it'd be good to have a better solution.

Before and After Shades | #sunfire_art #sunfire_3d weathering my beloved <3 i'm really happy with how the toned-down gold came out. using drakenhof nightshade over the gold really pulled the brightness down in the exact way i wanted. delicious

i wonder what 3d print infill pattern is the best for gluing broken parts back together... i've heard that gyroid has a number of straight line paths buried in it, so maybe you could use those to sink pins into it?

delicious progress~ i now have the body piece of my kitbash about halfway through painting, and the legs have been adjusted to the point where i can start printing them! i'm still not entirely 100% on the final pose, need it in hand before i can decide, but it's tantalizingly close now...
