i don't think anyone should run explicitly on banning online gambling but i do think that a democratic-led government should just quietly take steps to undermine the industry and create an inhospitable regulatory environment

David Brauer@dbrauer.net

Lula won in part by banning online gambling

I am all in favor of impeaching cabinet members who have clearly exceeded authority, broken laws and failed to execute other laws. To exclude POTUS unilaterally seems to make the investigations into corruption toothless. Dems committed to exposing this admin must not prejudge in either direction.

I think you pull the “evil counselors” approach of 17th century England and relentlessly go after cabinet members with trial after trial.

Despite the agency's human resources department saying he hadn’t even been onboarded, Jeremy Lewin oversaw the destruction of USAID. It’s not clear he had the legal authority to do so.

Major press failure: treating Jared Kushner taking foreign bribes and shaping US foreign policy as less relevant than Hunter Biden not taking bribes nor influencing policy. Covering Kushner accurately was considered partisan, biased. Lies about Hunter or his minor actions treated as more important.

I was a late teenager the first time someone called me 'sir' and it was ... strange. Last 5-10 years it is commonplace for customer service or sales or charitable organizations or political organizations to contact me and address me by my first name which is ... disrespectful? I don't know you.

This is legit wild. One of the Trumpiest GOP kooks we’ve had holding high office here in Texas makes an absolute spot-on, beautiful, non-partisan call for government transparency against the governor’s attempt to hide his emails with Elon Musk.

A reminder, because it is almost that time of year: More children are killed by cars on Halloween than any other day of the year, by far. www.vox.com/future-perfe... If you're a parent, I hope you'll do what you can to keep kids safe. If you're driving on Saturday, PLEASE exercise extra caution.

DA DAVIDSON ups $AVGO: “.. Our reading of the Anthropic S1 leads us to believe the IPO will proceed .. and next year OpenAI will raise more capital in its own IPO, allowing Broadcom to meet its expectations .. AVGO is trading as if the chances of that happening are near zero ..”

No clue why the Fed would hold as persistent above-target inflation proceeds apace and shocks show no sign of abating. Seems to be consensus that they will but I just don't get it. The grant of credibility given by a single 25bp hike seems way over-the-top. #EconSky

🧵 Matt Yglesias is one of the biggest reasons the Democratic Party leadership is so feckless, cowardly, and lazy. I'm not exaggerating. Yglesias is often a featured speaker at private Democratic Party events, despite almost always being wrong. Let's discuss...

A helpfully clear exchange here Hasan: "So your argument is that [Minnesota ICE protesters] should stay at home because immigration is a salient issue for Donald Trump. Opposing ICE is only going to help Trump. Wait until we win the election in 2028." Yglesias: "Yes that is what I would have said"

Ignoring the fact that courts already ruled on the participants of the election. I could conceive of a lawsuit to a higher court or on different grounds saying 'set aside the result because it's unfair.' Saying 'set it aside only if we lose" with we not being the party but the DOJ? That's CRAZY
