While #FDP app #Cancer360 was being piloted at #ChelWest with a clear Direct Care purpose (for which there's no 'opt out', NHSE Chief Data Officer Ming Tang was telling NHS Board (erroneously) patients can opt out of FDP data sharing. #FederatedDataPlatform #NHSE @medconfidential.bsky.social

I've been working on a #FDP #FederatedDataPlatform timeline, to try to help bring together several strands of information: * public scope (creep) * contract data * supplier controversies * NHS board reassurances * news stories pacharanero.github.io/nhse/fdp/ If I've missed anything let me know.

My heart breaks for mathematicians whose lives and careers are being destroyed by AI — and especially this PhD student, who doesn’t even know he is a poet

Welcome to the 2026 Cambridge 1A CST students for their first Foundations of Computer Science lecture! They’ve started a journey in the most rapidly paced eras in our field I’ve ever seen. May the functional programming gods spark the same enduring joy in CS as it did for me :-)

Pleased to announce shplait/liquid, a liquid-typed version of shplait, the language of my book PLAI. This version adds liquid-typing, a form of refinement types. It's primarily meant to be a small language for pedagogic purposes to induce people to try grown-up ones later. ↵

the true moral of this nasa story is this: if you present anything as a choice to management, be it testing or other safety critical work, they will see it as optional, and will default to saying no doing anything more than the minimum best practice means taking more responsibilities for delays

Speaking to climate scientists this week, it was interesting to hear that we're likely to hit max emissions within the decade as renewable adoption picks up. If we sequester enough CO2 then we could make it back to 1.5 degrees. Fuck yeah! Let's fucking do it!
