Some context around this, from a markets person. Historically in LatAm, leftist victories have led to sharp losses over the ~3 months after an election where the left wins. Stocks also typically underperformed into those victories. But 3y post-election, returns for leftists have been *higher*.

It's very, very telling, I think, that the markets are so concerned about the pro-democracy incumbent winning

incredible strategic error by Pat McAfee to reveal he is deeply bothered by relatively mild mockery from college students despite a key component of his job being "standing on a stage in front of college students for 3 hours a week"

Game Freak would take over the entire industry if they could figure out how to make more than 2 types of good pokemon games at a time.

Pokémon UNITE End of Service on March 23, 2027 unite.pokemon.com/en-us/news/u...

a well-designed pokemon moba should have taken over the world, except they never released it on PC and used the most exploitive micro-transaction model outside of actual gatca games (also an issue in other pokemon non-mainline games!)

Joan Laporta answered a question about the importance of winning the women's Champions League with an answer about wanting to win the men's Champions League and La Liga...while accepting the award for best women's club.

The WNBA season is going to go to 50 games next year. It will stretch into the regular season of the NBA. What is gonna be done so that this shit doesn't happen again?

it is not great that many fans devote so much of their time, attention, and dollars to enjoy women's sports and enhance it... only for the people in charge of the teams and leagues to keep fumbling the metaphorical bag and the bag of cash - posts from 2026, 2025, 2024, 2023...

What a legacy to end your run Cathy. Giving out the finals trophy in the middle of the work day.

big failure from the NBA to not get two of its teams to move one (1) regular season game. the NBA owns 42% of the WNBA (functionally more, since a lot of NBA owners own teams) and should be invested in wanting the league to grow, even at minor expense to its more popular product

BREAKING: Game 6 of the WNBA Finals will be held Thursday at 12:30pm ET at Atlanta’s State Farm Arena, sources told ESPN’s Ramona Shelburne. It will be a double-header with the Atlanta Hawks’ game, which will be moved to 8pm.

One thing I've internalised in my career: there's basically no correlation between "code that is well-written" and "code that makes money"

I once inherited a python system that handled about $100m in ARR. It was a single Django class that was 25k lines long and had zero tests or docs that always called out to MySQL and postgres via fork+exec rather than actually using those client libraries

Seems weird to me that EZ Pass will take anywhere from 3-7 days to show up in your account. That has to be something that could be easily be improved, right?

Full S-1 is out for $ANT - www.sec.gov/Archives/edg... Overall the picture seems similar to what was reported before: They are now making real money, inference is profitable, but also need to keep the growth rate to fulfill the commitments to the contracted compute.

Danny Page@danny.page

anyway we just need to wait for the full S-1, not these (illegal!) leaks

If the DCs aren’t delivered at that pace, I wonder if that means they can re-negotiate the contracts for spend, thus lowering the necessary revenue goals? bsky.app/profile/dann...

what if the moratoriums and delays on data centers ensures that they built at a sustainable pace and there's no pop in the AI Bubble

Anthropic cumulative operating loss since inception is only $12 billion and at their current run rate operating margin they will completely recoup that loss by Q1 27 even if revenue is flat. So much for “these companies will never make money” lmao

Look, I don’t want to get ahead of myself, but I think you should probably pencil AES in for winning the presidency in 2036

Acyn@acyn.bsky.social

EL-SAYED: I get that the President takes personal offense to my first name. He doesn't mind as much when it's the Saudis who are funding his son-in-law's private equity. Doesn't seem to mind as much when it's the Qataris who are giving them a $400 million private jet…

i’m going for the record number of photo quote posts on this one, and somehow they will all be unique pictures of the same subject in the same setting

always important to do well in the first leg so you can win the second on the away goals rule

Taniel@taniel.bsky.social

Lula has been reelected president, Brazilian media has now called. An extraordinary comeback for the left-wing politician who trailed by 2 points in round 1 but managed to hold off Flávio Bolsonaro, the former president's son.

also i’m wondering now about an alternate history where trump goes to prison, how does one of his kids do in 2024 probably not this close

literally the only thing notable about her is being a bigot and her team being knocked out of the first round of the playoffs for giving her too many minutes
