I came up with the term Inclusive Front to mean the band of people who care about the web's inclusivity. It's a play on words; we largely work on the front end, but I feel at times we're also like a political 'popular front' against a poorly built web that excludes people. I've had stickers made!

CSS-Tricks has a new owner! Yes, I've got the keys to the castle, so to speak. And, even after 12 years of working on the site, I'll admit I'm a little overwhelmed and nervous about that. https://css-tricks.com/css-tricks-has-a-new-owner/

It’s exciting to wake up in the morning to bloodied footprints in the garden and a trail of cogs. “The Clock Man’s been!” I exclaim to the children as we examine the clocks for proof. And indeed, he has given back the stolen hour because we have been so Good.

I'm considering a nano tank to "aquascape" and maybe eventually introduce little shrimp and snails into, and now I'm swimming in relevant YouTube content -- But, what content! A lot of it is calming and lovely to watch. Could definitely be worse! Looking at a 20 litre cube, at the moment. Hm hmmm

I'm thinking I want to follow the Walstad method - which seems to be essentially: plant heavily and let those plants do the filtering for you.

Linking them worked! Funny, why not. Not stereo though, I guess? Another thing is that their startup and Bluetooth connection noises are very hifi but also unnervingly human and satisfied sounding. Some deep sighs some out of this thing. It's a little too sensual 😳

I’m looking to connect with university lecturers and staff. We offer student tickets for @ffconf.org, but they’re easy to miss, and I’d love to give the next generation of web developers the chance to attend a great indie event. If anyone can contact please drop me comment here I can follow up.

Hi, I’m a sighted alt text user! Here are some reasons I use it: - Slow Internet on an airplane - I’m over 40, I have no idea who that celebrity is - Bluesky broke images again - My vision sucks and that text is too small to read otherwise - Conveys further context and authorial intent

I could do with recommendations for family-friendly seated restaurants (kids are 6 and 8) within limited walking distance (elderly sore knees/hips and walking sticks) of Liverpool Street station in London. Looking at Google Maps it's hard to root out which are fancy, and which are just takeaways!

Oh, and it's for catching up with an elderly family member over an evening meal - so nothing that will turf us out after one hour, or closes at 7pm. Maybe I'm unduly worrying but also I would like to pick one and book, so that we're not stuck roaming the streets looking for something suitable...

Doctor Who and Sherlock died as their storylines went up their own arses, entangled in some kind of self importance instead of being part of the wider world.

Whew, we're still reeling from Fronteers: Dark Mode this past friday! We brought developers from multiple countries together to celebrate front-end and human connection. It was super "gezellig"! Thank you everyone for helping us make this event happen, thank you for supporting Fronteers!

And all this really means is You're one in a crowd and you're paranoid of every sound Another friend you won't miss anyhow.. 2/2 (It's a longish chorus!)

May I moan about the guy who is speaking loudly at length on the phone in the space between carriages, whose voice and the voice of the person on the other end is carrying loudly into the quiet carriage. I can hear him through earplugs. I can't stop my brain from trying to follow his conversation.

I've been on this train for almost two hours and it feels like I've been hearing him talk for almost all of that time.

I've already turned around and caught his eye. It seems like a deep conversation about a third person. It's all in English. I would much prefer to be able to tune him out but I cannot. I don't want to listen to music to drown him out. I also don't want to go and interrupt and confront him. Sigh.

Had an excellent time at @fronteers.bsky.social Dark Mode yesterday. For an industry that feels uncertainly balanced on top of the AI bubble, and is collectively very tired of the topic - it helps so so so much to connect and bond with other humans. We get by with a little help from our friends 💛

Just had this reposted into my feed, and it says something about Josh's temperament that he's still posting a smiley (yes the sweating one, but still) after all that. If you can't afford his courses or those from other educators, see if your company has an education budget that can buy you some :)

I’ve spoken to a few course creators now, and we’re all seeing the same trend. Revenue down 50%+. Fewer people engaging with our content. People switching to LLMs, which slurp up all of our work and regurgitate it, without consent or compensation. It feels pretty bleak. 😅

Wow. Announcement on train to look after all belongings because of "an active pick-pocket on the train". So presumably people have reported stuff missing, and they haven't caught the thief! Could be anyone 😶
