Delighted to see that Toxic Language in East Asia is coming out this month! I have a chapter analyzing why Japanese people found Ado's Usseewa to be vulgar, looking at online discourse around the song to figure out what specifically caused controversy.

Incidentally, you'll notice the award was for セクシャル・ハラスメント and not the shortened, and now more popular usage, セクハラ. This was deliberate. Not everyone liked セクハラ (sekuhara). Some thought it sounded too flippant and wanted "SH" instead. Few knew what SH meant, however.
