What’s that you say? Liz has a new book out which even the Telegraph is saying is even more unhinged than the last one? Wonderful, I’ll post this then.

This is the advice that the UK media is sh!tting the bed over. It’s very sensible to have enough basic provisions to weather the first 24-72 hours of an emergency such as severe weather causing infrastructure disruption. Most countries advise their citizens to do this sort of stuff.

How about using your enormous clout to spread gov's guidance. The PSR advice really needs pushing. beready.campaign.gov.uk/be-ready-for...

The Govt claiming we must drill more fossil fuels so we can use the tax revenues to fund the green transition is about as logical as a doctor telling you to smoke 2 packs a day to raise the money for your lung transplant You don’t put out a fire by pouring on more fuel 🔥#Jackdaw

Among Keir Starmer's worst deeds were his legislative and rhetorical attacks on nature protection. In those two wasted years, we spiralled backwards, even from the Tory legacy. At this week's biodiversity summit, the Burnham govt should pledge to turn that round. www.theguardian.com/commentisfre...

theguardian.comWage war on nature to build new homes: that’s Labour’s offer, but it’s a con trick | George MonbiotThe government’s new planning bill is tearing down environmental protections to benefit developers. This nation of nature lovers won’t stand for it, says Guardian columnist George Monbiot

Go on then, Bluesky, tell me the stupidest thing your dog has ever done. Mine decided earthworms were missing from his diet, and as part of his culinary experiment chose one that was still attached to a fishhook. The FIVE resulting surgeries cost me the price of a small car. Good boy, Baxter.

#FOTW Daily Post 11 I'm unflinching about the science — but I refuse to trade in despair. The past tells us things WILL be grim, but if we lose hope and fail to act, they will be far worse So, pls share and tag 2 That's how hope becomes momentum #FateOfTheWorld #TogetherUnstoppable #ClimateHope

The progress that the Green Party has made in England & Wales had the potential to force a sensible environmental policy position in other parties. That they have been hijacked by antisemitic people with no interest in their party progressing its overall political agenda is a great shame.

Hi, European here. Little tip if I may: look up and see the bigger picture. Europe is an idea, a joint path forward. Carney got that better than most Brits ever did. If you're only in it for the money, maybe don't bother.

#NigelFarage has been named Terrorists’ PR Professional of the Year after once again demonstrating that people can be made to #fear a terrorist attack without terrorists even having to organise one. #ReformPanic

It’s almost as if the government has a lot of influence over messaging. One of the huge problems with Starmer was that he couldn’t work the news agenda competently.

Ian Dunt@iandunt.bsky.social

This is testament to No.10's frankly astonishing degree of political competence. A policy which was branded electoral suicide 48 hours ago now showing signs of robust popularity.

‘This is playing into his hands’/‘this will allow him to play the martyr card’/‘this will help with his fundraising’ are all really bad takes. Criminals should be arrested and charged with crimes.

Very good thread on the legalities of disrupting rescue operations in territorial waters.

1/23 Sorry, this will be long... There is a lot of shouting about what happened in the Channel yesterday. So I want to go back to basic law. Not immigration policies or political rhetoric. At sea, the starting point is simple: Preservation of life comes first under all maritime conventions.

I thought Hot Fuzz was a work of fiction but I've woken to a TL full of posts about somewhere called Piddington (which sounds like a quaint English village name made up by a US sitcom writer who's never been to the UK) and apparently not. What a horde of cobwebbed arseholes.

Very nice to hear a sane voice from Piddington. Serious respect to this woman, who is apparently already being othered by more bigoted villagers.

Lots of privately educated oxbridge graduate journalists pretending that they think the £72m to Reform thing is anything other than yet another con to create another whinging ’the establishment is against us’ narrative when the Lords signs off a law that means they have to return the donations 🙄

Tice & Farage aren’t so stupid they don’t fully expect the legislation to pass. Probably why the donations were so offensively big. Their hard of thinking supporters that have been sucked in will just lap this up and carry on screaming at Facebook. The media will whip it up as a ‘storm’ for clicks.

I want the Prime Minister to look into a TV camera and say the RNLI are heroes, that we do not change policy by street violence in this country, and that he expects any criminal action to face the full force of the law. That's it. That's all he has to do.

Wildfires, drought, record heat, the worst-ever arable harvest: we have seen just recently what ecosystem collapse looks like in the UK, and we know it will only get worse. The govt must treat this existential threat as the national security issue it is.
