Alright I went back and made another account cause I didn't feel like I was doing blacksky right by not showing the customization and care they put in for their community on the first screens of onboarding - Highlighting moderation/community guidelines accept - People's assembly built in feature

@blackskyweb.xyz's account onboarding for new accounts is so nice. I missed the pictures but the very first slide was on the community labeler and guidlines. They do a great job highlighting other apps on the Atmosphere and that their account works everywhere, default For You feed as well

This was early days, before there was an app or @rude1.blacksky.team had built anything beyond the original feed, but @blackskyweb.xyz was what got me to first pay attention and dig in to understand what was happening with this protocol thing.

Quick story— i had a bluesky account during the invites phase but only logged in once— came back in 2024 and stayed solely and only because of Blacksky. My decades long research drove me to volunteer to see what was possible, I had never been interested in the open social web prior.

I have two: 1. Early excitement after a convo with @rude1.blacksky.team about his plans for for @blackskyweb.xyz 2. @whtwnd.com and personally seeing a blogging network as the killer Atmosphere app

Without question, Blacksky. I had a really negative experience with Bluesky and its staff before the site even dropped, so it felt it was gonna be more of the same that we’ve already seen. It wasn’t until I read about Blacksky and its ideas that I become curious about AtProto.

This is a mockup I proposed to @rishkebab.blacksky.team a while back about how devs should approach making ATproto apps. Sharing it now because I think this is currently a huge deficiency in the Atmosphere. We need apps that lets you easily switch between short form video, images, & microblogging
