RIP Walter Koenig, the first Star Trek actor I ever met at my first ever convention way back in high school. Thanks for all the memories. 🖖

Doing my civic duties! In the space of ~18 hours I've voted and gotten my Covid and flu shots. 🗳️💉💉

Why learn science? Because lots of things can seem like a big scary conspiracy theory when you don’t understand how the world works! Empower yourself by learning about facts and evidence and reality. As a bonus, it’ll lead to a healthier and more prosperous society for others around you.

It's always a great sign when an interview with a scientist starts like this: Me: Hi there, thanks for talking to me. I'd like to ask you some questions about [thing]. Scientist: OH MY GOODNESS I LOVE [thing]!!! I could talk about [thing] for hours!!!!!

Farewell to costume designer Bob Mackie, a designer of spectacular gowns for great divas, but also the creator of perhaps the greatest costume sight gag in history.

I’m going to need everyone who’s reporting on AI psychosis and how it’s making people, especially men, come up with theories of everything to please talk with the scientists who have been getting multiple emails from “theory of everything” guys for decades

Just like the Germans did with the Berlin Wall. Hand out sledgehammers and let the people express how they feel about Trump’s monuments to himself.

It's not enough to just take this shit down in 2.5 years. We've gotta desecrate it. Flip it over and turn it into a halfpipe. Make the sides of it a dog park so something can piss and shit on it. It's the only way out of this. President AOC, I will make this happen free of charge.

Just talked with a student reporter about what the atmosphere was like on campus on 9/11... he finds it interesting and is doing a story on it because HE WASN'T BORN YET. Excuse me while I go turn into dust...

Today's "Adventures in PMA" - no A/C on 14, 15, 16, 17 since about lunchtime yesterday. 🥵 (they've brought in fans and coolers, but of course they are LOUD)

I know everyone will talk about Clue and Rocky Horror, but I loved the complete randomness (to 18-year-old me, at least) of Tim Curry as the sub's doctor in The Hunt for Red October. And his audiobooks were delightful - I listened to him read all of the Lemony Snicket series and they were great!

The Library is devastated to learn of the passing of Dolly Parton, a music legend and titan of children's literacy. Her Imagination Library program has earned multiple Library Literacy Awards and, in 2018, she visited us to donate its 100 millionth book to our collection and host a story time. 🦋❤️

Here's the official announcement of Parton's passing from her reps, along with the request that in lieu of flowers, the family asks for donations to be made to Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library at www.imaginationlibrary.com

Dolly Parton, among a thousand other amazing things she did in her life, gifted over 330 million books to kids through her Imagination Library program. Her passing is a tremendous loss to the world, but you can support the program today to keep it going imaginationlibrary.com

Everyone else has already said it better than I could, but RIP to a great one. I can't begin to explain the impact that 9 to 5 had on me and my girl friends as kids - we watched that thing on repeat in the early 80s! We were convinced that's what work was going to be like when we grew up. 😆
