NEW: A federal judge in Oregon issued a sweeping rebuke of the Justice Department’s nationwide push to seize state voter rolls, ruling that the department can no longer be presumed to be acting in good faith and warning that its conduct threatens voters and states’ rights.
In a democracy, we are supposed to feel like we have control over our lives because the people control the government.
But in the U.S., people feel like our lives are out of control because the people don’t control the federal government.
ICE is running a “conveyor belt” of illegally detained Minnesota families.
Agents are arresting entire families with legal status and immediately shipping them off to Texas to deny them legal representation and avoid the federal courts in Minnesota.
The cruelty is endless.
A Supreme Court precedent that was reaffirmed just last year may not bode well for the immigration officer who killed Renee Good in Minneapolis last week, according to a legal expert.
Legal experts smacked down Stephen Miller’s ominous message to ICE agents that they enjoy “federal immunity” and argued that he might have just opened himself up to impeachment proceedings.
Hey, @amyklobuchar.com and @smith.senate.gov: I'm not a senator, but if ICE thugs were rampaging through the major city in my state, I might try to impede Senate business as usual and try to bring everything to a halt until I could get answers or force some votes.

Terrific, detailed report by Block Club Chicago about how Homeland Security has lied its ass off about its immigration crackdown in Chicago.
Nothing that Homeland Security says should be believed.
This timing makes a lot more sense now, doesn’t it?
Adm. Alvin Holsey resigned in October as commander of U.S. Southern Command right after flagging concerns about those U.S. military strikes on “suspected” drug boats in the Caribbean.
He served for 37 years.
Illinois Gov. J.B. Pritzker (D) on the shooting of Charlie Kirk:
"Political violence, unfortunately, has ramped up in this country ... I think there are people who are fomenting it in this country. I think the president's rhetoric often foments it."
“The Trump administration has launched a comprehensive attack on knowledge itself, a war against culture, history, and science,” @adamserwer.bsky.social writes. “If this assault is successful, it will undermine Americans’ ability to comprehend the world around us."
Stop the @bsky.app bashing. We’re all under a tremendous strain. We’re not perfect. I block when I need to, but ignore most foolishness.
Don’t become goaded into leaving a platform that’s doing almost all the right things.
To organize for 2026, we need to stay in communication w/each other.
More than 32,000 low-paid AmeriCorps service workers were terminated in a sweeping budget cut.
The move was one of the biggest government cutbacks since the Trump administration took office, but went largely unnoticed.
Here’s why:
The graying of the U.S. And I don't mean hair color. 47's attacks on culture will result in less color & brightness, as poverty, inequality, lies, misinformation & anti-woke stupidity spreads, as science & climate research are deterred, cultural institutions shuttered, etc. lithub.com/on-the-lates...
White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt addresses Defense Department firings by saying the Trump regime won’t tolerate leaking to the mainstream media about “sensitive information.” But, um, didn’t Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth leak military secrets to the editor of The Atlantic?
"If you can convince the lowest white man he's better than the best colored man, he won't notice you're picking his pocket. Hell, give him somebody to look down on, and he'll empty his pockets for you." - President Lyndon B. Johnson

“Unless the president changes course or is forced to do so, these tariffs will hurt — and the pain is going to get worse,” the New York Times editorial board writes.
As Trump drives our economy over the cliff, I'm re-upping a piece I wrote last month. Why won't the media report the obvious fact that Trump is mentally unfit to be president? They had no problem raising questions about Biden, whose sin was old age, not greed, pathological lying and megalomania.

Tariffs on produce and products, like coffee, that can't be grown in the U. S. are incredibly stupid.
