Citizens United is a supreme court decision that overturned BIPARTISAN campaign finance legislation. The Republican supreme court is an anti-democratic political cabal. We must have court reform and we must all understand what is at stake before it is way too late.

40-45 times the usual fireworks. If they were to light the fireworks at the same pace, it would last a bit more than a day.

Matt Novak@paleofuture.bsky.social

It is new. Trump is trying to break the world record for most fireworks. So they're setting off 850,000 fireworks in the span of 40 minutes. Apparently in a normal year it's like 17,000-20,000 fireworks for this show.

NEW FROM ME: This morning, a federal judge in Maryland handed the DOJ its ninth defeat in a series of 31 cases the department has filed to gain access to state voter files. The DOJ has yet to win a single one. www.democracydocket.com/opinion/dojs...

Treasury just waived oil sanctions on Iran for 60 days — citing "progress." Iran could rake in up to ~$10 billion off that decision alone. In contrast, the Obama admin didn't lift sanctions until a deal was signed and the IAEA independently verified Iran's nuclear compliance.

I'm getting the sense that more people are starting to get a sense of how utterly insane it is to live in the US right now... This, from @theguardian.com, is best described as "deadpan reporting" - and 100% accurate. We have real problems in this country, yet, here we are, arresting people. Again.

It's easy to shrug off the idiots claiming that the incredibly accomplished politician Spencer Pratt was cheated out of a rightful win in Los Angeles. But they're going to make these same claims in November, so we need to carpet bomb this conspiracy out of existence right now.

Tom Clark@tomsclark.bsky.social

Listen, the fact that the GOP is freaking out that Spencer Pratt didn't win is a VERY bad sign for November. And the fact that they're willing to claim fraud and say the evidence is the lack of evidence, makes it even scarier.

#DR26 The U.S. democracy is currently in a much faster deterioration process than any other democracy in modern times. Within only one year, the USA’s score on the V-Dem Liberal Democracy index (LDI) has declined by 24 %, from 0.75 in 2024 to 0.57 in 2025. 🧵1(4) #Polisky #PoliSciSky #PolDataSky

Humiliation for Trump. As expected, Netanyahu ignored his pleas not to attack Iran. Israel struck Iran several times overnight. Iranian missiles are now en route to Israel.

I had dinner w/pharma people a while ago and asked if they are discussing internally, the collapse of science. The response was “yeah, all the time. But we figure that the pipeline is about a decade long and we’ll have made our money and be retired by the time it completely collapses”. Me: ……………..

Watching a series of former Confederate states rush to eliminate any vestige of black representation in the House pretty much answers the question whether the Voting Rights Act was still necessary.
