A reminder that Bolsonaro’s father plotted to stay in power by poisoning Lula, assassinating the Vice President, and murdering a Supreme Court justice after losing his reelection bid. He is currently serving a 27 year prison sentence for his crimes. Any wonder why Trump is helping his son?

This is why it's dangerous to give rich people so much power over our lives. Sometimes, they are appallingly ignorant. The Nazis added the word "socialist" to their name purely as propaganda to appeal more to workers. But the party--and Hitler--hated real socialists and communists.

This pattern stands in contrast to the idea of Trumpism’s irresistible march towards consolidated autocracy. A past pattern is not a guarantee that the regime won’t ultimately break through somehow. But being lawless, immoral, and violent does not make the Trumpists omnipotent.
