we're getting a lot of questions about this! if anyone wants to talk about some of the technical challenges, my DMs are open. note that much of this is still very much subject to change, but we're eager to collaborate with others in this space and trying to solve some of the same problems as us.

I'm building an alternative streaming option for artists called tracklist:// where they will be able to self-host their music catalog and stream it directly to fans. As musicians ourselves, our goal is to empower artists with connection. Sign up for our waitlist here; www.tracklist.diy

is there any correlation between the cyclical popularity of "Magic: the Gathering" and the cyclical return of the McRib?

i would appreciate it if everyone could stop stealing money from me, declining my card even if i have money on it, and defrauding my credit card. it would mean the world to me as an extremely impoverished individual if all of these things could end immediately. thank u 4 ur attn 2 dis matter.

skeet driven development

1. listen for posts with that text in it 2. send post to AI coding agent 3. tell agent to implement whatever it says to do if possible on the streamplace codebase

i only solve CS problems in the “rock” hardness class

ponder@ponder.ooo

in cs a "hard problem" is one that's a member of some hardness class, while in math they call a problem hard if it's one existing analytical tools can't crack. meanwhile in philosophy they call a problem hard if it's just poorly posed nonsense and kinda a waste of time to think about

this is likely the first and only time the Bahrain Grand Prix will ever get rained out (it’s in Malaysia lol)

The Onion has created a machine that will kill everyone on Earth that is coincidentally running out of money and the only way to slow it down is if my staff and I take a six-week vacation to Cabo San Lucas.

Working for the LLM companies must be so easy, you go on social media and post something like "I'm afraid to tell you that we are dangerously close to creating the AI that sucks you off... thread carefully 1/2" "AHHHHhhh THe Ai Is SUCKin ME offff!!! 2/2" and wait for the paycheck

WEB CODER WITH NO JOB: this is bullshit. give me some god damn money.

Jesse Raub@jesseraub.online

PEOPLE WITH LIBERAL ARTS DEGREES: so while i see there is utility to the system, i’m more or less morally opposed to their current constructs and have big concerns over the business structure and environmental impact WEB CODER: so i met God today,

bluesky & atproto actually do use oauth, but your appview might log you out frequently because it doesn’t implement confidential sessions. this is an extra step but allows the session to persist exponentially longer without re-authenticating. i don’t get logged out constantly.

neko@neko.moe.observer

would help if bluesky actually used oauth, and the pds didn't log you out constantly.

is this actually possible to pull off without paying big tech? bc i can’t seem to get any coding done without giving some billionaire my money…

P(aul) Frazee@pfrazee.com

It enables people to create software so easily that we will be able to move away from the tech monopolies that dominate our lives

first of all i didn't "blow a decentralized social network in your baby's face"... it's not decentralized. it's some other shit.

“Some folks are born made to wave the flag Ooh, they’re red, white and blue” STOP! this song is NOT the patriotic hymn you think it is. it is about the flagger at nascar race who is responsible for waving various race control flags

private spaces alpha going a bit _too_ well

Thoth@thoth.ptnote.dev

Showed up to the @atproto.nyc community day 90 minutes too early and now I'm in a locked stairwell.

jetstream v2 needs 4TB for replay/resync or something? we should borrow from bittorrent and source the data from other places when its needed, otherwise do we really need to download all history of every account if it will never be used?

i’m at the atproto community day i’m at the spaces soft launch i’m at the combination atproto community day and spaces soft launch

the tracklist team is working on this right now, for musicians! we believe everyone on planet earth has about 2-3 artists they’d willingly give a monthly stipend to just make their art. you can keep songs behind a paywall or just let people sub if they want and sell ads for folks outside the paywall

P(aul) Frazee@pfrazee.com

Payments from audiences to creators, who will increasingly benefit from their content showing up across the atmosphere, and from being able to build sites & apps for their communities that tie into the network, will likely be the primary economic inflow

this is essentially why i’m so excited about atproto and why tracklist uses it instead of activitypub or something similar.

Cameron Banga@cameronbanga.com

ActivityPub always felt like “I’m creating my own MySpace and you can make yours too if you want”, while AtProto feels more like a revised way to think about how this sort of service should work.

i am once again asking the philadelphia phillies to divert the cheesesteak budget from our bullpen to the top of the batting order. slim up our pitchers, fatten up our batters. that's what we need to do.

i’m available for hire. been applying to places for about a year and even though i have over 15y working experience in the software world i’m still treated like dirt by everyone i apply to. if someone could maybe read my resume that would be great. and if you reject me, let me know why.

my review of the blacksky app so far: “mmm…it’s purple!” fwiw you don’t need a blacksky pds account to use the app, it works with any pds. my repo is still on bsky but i’m posting this from blacksky iOS. not sure if theres a difference in features if you have a blacksky pds (like the private posts)

Blacksky Algorithms@blackskyweb.xyz

🔥 The Blacksky mobile app is here. Today we're opening up our public beta on both iOS and Android. If you've been waiting for a native mobile experience, now's your chance to try it before our full public launch and help us make it even better. 🧵👇

one of my favorite atproto unfeatures is that when you do something in one app it syncs up with the other app. i just read some chats and deleted spam in blacksky, and when i went back to bluesky, the changes were already made…no chat bubble notifications. if only apple could figure this out lol
