As the votes are counted, questions 6-10 have all gone against what the government or separatists wanted. This is about as bad for the UCP and Danielle Smith as could reasonably have been expected. Anyone have an Alberta-grown head of lettuce? results.elections.ab.ca/8400

Albertans should be furious about this. Danielle Smith: 1) Lowered the threshold for signatures on a petition 2) Extended the duration in which they could be collected 3) Continues to pretend the people who signed the Forever Canada petition wanted a referendum Shameless.

Just a note- separatists pitched option 2 to hold a binding referendum as a way to send a message to Ottawa. Many folks jumped on that idea. Which means, no, 24.5% of Albertans do not support separation. The actual number is lower.

Dear Canadian pundit class, You DO NOT under any circumstances have to give Jason Kenney any credit for his work on the remain side of the referendum. He created this mess by legitimizing the separatists after inviting them into his party and trying to use them to leverage the federal government.
