I will always appreciate that Konami outright sanctioned rules for modern Yu-Gi-Oh events where judges can straight up DQ a person from the whole thing for being a shithead bigot which includes intentionally misgendering somebody. Genuinely fantastic rules

I've experienced this one first hand (not on the receiving end obviously) where my opponent was purposefully misgendering me to try and tilt me during the match, I proceeded to clean his clock, told a judge and he proceeded to get DQ'd from the whole fucking event

Minimal because the chances of them being found and exploited pre AI was actually pretty goddamn low due to the precision required in the exploit chain. Unfortunately, AI is very good at throwing itself at a wall over and over until it makes something happen

Finding the timings to pull off these exploit chains is now SIGNIFICANTLY EASIER because AI can just brute force the fuck out of it through sheer repetition etc etc. So now suddenly these things that were far less of an issue in the past come to light because of AI

It wasn't impossible, but developing an exploit chain pre AI would often require an insane amount of work because a lot of this shit requires precision timing down to the nanoseconds. Shit humans typically aren't just going to stumble across, so the actual IMPACT of a lot of these was minimal

these vulnerabilities DO NOT AFFECT the apache web server (apache httpd), which is what most people think of. they ONLY affect the apache traffic server, which is a proxy solution.

Update: Final Weapon is back online following the installation and review of the latest PHP security patches. Thank you for your patience and understanding while we took the necessary precautions.

Final Weapon@finalweapon.net

Due to critical security vulnerabilities affecting PHP, which powers much of the internet, we're temporarily taking Final Weapon offline as a precaution. We’ll restore access tomorrow morning once the vulnerabilities are patched. Thank you for your patience and understanding.

The PHP security team is giving advance notice: Upcoming security release Wed, Oct 21st 2026, 14:00UTC, two critical vulnerabilities, both rated CVSSv4 9.2. PHP users are encouraged to prepare to update. Earlier release if details become public or active exploit evidence.

The history of PHP is long and tied to the history of the entire modern web and we wouldn't be where we are without it and also PHP is much better than it was historically from a security perspective and a lot of infrastructure still depends on it *and also* we would like to pretend it's not there

This is bad enough that if you run anything public-facing with PHP, you should shut it down until you can patch PHP. This is not a drill, do it now. Seriously.

details leaked. this vulnerability is a full unauthenticated unconditional remote code execution exploit against any service running on a PHP version from 5.4 until latest yeah if anything deserves CVSS 11, this is it. this is CATACLYSMICALLY bad.

Hello every non-techie webcomics person who gets scared to even touch their website. PLEASE contact your host and make sure they're ready to patch this.

I took one look at a video of the exploit and immediately disabled a couple dozen website servers. If you see a wordpress still online tonight there's a sysadmin who is not answering their phone's alarms.

there is a one-liner mitigation available ( session.upload_progress.enabled = 0 ) but THIS IS NOT A FIX and PHP developers have said it. IT DOES NOT RESOLVE THE ISSUE, YOU ARE STILL VULNERABLE. the only permanent solution is to patch, and EOL'd PHP versions might not receive the patch

BTW knowledge of the existence of this vulnerability enables a well financed malware group to use AI to find it, if you run PHP anything you should be taking the service down NOW until a patch is available. And then patch before bringing the service back up.

Everyone should do this. Ask your favorite devs to do this. See how they respond.
