Look, I know all the reasons we got here, but we really need to start seriously thinking about what we do in a world where The Markets punish whole countries for voting for decency, compassion, and fairness. We must stop pretending the capitalist machine is an objective, value neutral force.
It's very, very telling, I think, that the markets are so concerned about the pro-democracy incumbent winning

This is a sweet one. Congrats to the team, including my Lex Lumina colleagues Rhett Millsaps, Mark McKenna, and Mark Lemley.
VICTORY! EFF, our co-counsel and our clients have won our lawsuit against the U.S. Office of Personnel Management. A judge agreed OPM violated the law when it disclosed millions of federal employee records to DOGE agents. The court will decide the remedy at a later date.

If we tax Elon Musk and his fellow billionaires appropriately, every child in America can have healthcare, education, and a well funded social safety net instead of some racist billionaire’s pathetic pr stunt
Elon Musk has said he will give every child in America a stake in SpaceX, his $2 trillion aerospace and artificial intelligence company, as tech firms face intensifying scrutiny over their impact on society. https://cnn.it/4yWTjTJ

[P] In the unlikely event the Roadster ever actually gets released, the time between the first ones roll off the lot and some dillweed tangling one up in power lines will be measured in minutes.
We already have flying cars. They're called helicopters. They're really expensive and there are good reasons you have to have a pilot license and work with air traffic control to fly them. Putting jets on a sedan is not going to result in a better vehicle or transportation experience in any way.

I used to not bother with ad blocking until ads became so noxious to the point of breaking page layouts and destroying performance such that it was the only way for the internet to be usable
More than half of all internet users have installed an ad-blocker; Doc Searls calls it the largest consumer boycott in history.

Absolutely flabbergasted that @lastweektonight.com used the exact pill safety ad that inspired Busta Rhymes Dangerous, even using the part he stole the lyrics from, without mentioning it. Bizarre.

if Elon is spending millions of dollars of his own money to push this message with paid media, what do you think he does to the black box algorithm on his platform that chooses which posts you see and which of your posts are shown to others?
Elon Musk’s PAC is running anti-lgbtq+ midterm ads on X. Not surprising but incredibly unsubtle
