I cannot thank Brazil and Serbia enough. In these difficult times, it is incredibly heartening to see good people organizing themselves to prevent the worst. Thank you so much 🖖

At the Press Forward Central Valley Journalism Conference at UC Merced, keynote speaker Chris Hyams, former CEO of Indeed, has this to say about the aims of AI developers: "Their project is to replace workers. They are not building systems to make your lives better."

I'm going to try to do this cleanly. Today's right wing governments are networked to each other. Those networks are well-documented. You can read about them in books. Following the elections in one node of that network is good practice for understanding the U.S. node.

The first genuinely honest ad for generative AI I've ever seen, from Microsoft / CoPilot A mediocre white guy sees his non-white colleague getting praised for good work, he asks AI to *literally copy it*, and then he gets all the praise instead: www.ispot.tv/ad/SoDi/micr...

#nowspinning Jess By the Lake - Human Good grooves here. #vinyl #jessbythelake #psychrock #Discogs

WHY ARE PEOPLE AI-GENERATING RECTANGULAR SIGNS WITH TEXT ON THEM

Just a few pages in & I am enthralled. Thank you Tressie for sharing.

This isn’t insightful but almost every time that I open the Netflix app it’s an accident and nothing there *looks* like a show. All the thumbnails look like ads for a phone game.

Next week running "Don't Wake the Giant" for the Central Valley #Mordheim League. Got this guy all done up to wallop some thieves. #warhammer #miniatures

Go read @seannittner.bsky.social experience of coming out to Merced to play in our humble #Mordheim league.

I am DONE with hearing about how to "revolutionize teaching" from people who haven't set foot in a classroom. It's our turn to talk.

This was such a great answer from Abdul El-Sayed about his previous criticisms of President Obama.

Finish.
