As someone that has actually worked on a11y there are a whole bunch of people that are actually just woke scolds that are crazy counter productive and drive people away from a11y work. Mistakes aren’t tolerated and people trying to do better are driven away.

"computer use" as a modality is a stunning indictment of our industry's failure to consider accessibility as an actual professional responsibility how much easier would this moment have been if you'd taken disabled users seriously instead of branding a11y practitioners as woke scolds?

Always nice to do updates like this one 😊 Yes, CSS `light-dark()` with `<image>` values is now available in all major browser engines. Check brm.us/light-dark-i... to get the details.

I want to use BlueSky but the app has been absolutely unusable today. It takes 10s of seconds to send a simple reply. Notifications are showing up an hour late or not at all. The simple following timeline is taking minutes to load. What’s going on?

The Avatar Aang movie was alright but they took the amazing voice acting of the original and replaced everyone and the voice acting was fairly weak. Also, the climax was weak, ngl. The spirit world concept is very underbaked in the universe.

Two container divs with flex grow with an outer container with a flex-wrap: wrap-reverse?

David Bushell 🪿@dbushell.com

anyone got a link to this responsive CSS technique? I saw it somewhere... instead of two stacked elements snapping side by side at a specific breakpoint, the top element gradually moves into place along an arc (overlapping the corner is fine) does that make sense?

Linear just completed a complete migration from Styled Components to StyleX And they got a 30% first page navigations!

Oh crap. Something is off on this Pen but I KNOW I had it working correctly last night. Just revert to that version, no big deal. (And you can check it out and confirm first.)

Looks interesting and at least a bit like Solenoid

Three years ago, trying to use Rust for web apps was crazy talk. Today is very different than three years ago. Announcing Topcoat, a batteries-included Rust framework for building reactive web applications: tokio.rs/blog/2026-07...

The big news here is that there’s no unstyled components at its core. No radix, base-UI or react-aria. Just simple, minimal components with everything you need. Which means you can edit everything too.

"poopover" was right there.

One of 2026's better tech-related coinages is "dickover," John Gruber's term for > a modal panel, popover, or curtain presented by a website or app, deliberately obscuring its own content to frustrate the user with an unwanted, unnecessary, mandatory interaction... 1/

Can confirm. Works great. Yes: It's nice to test a non-chrome browser to avoid accidentally depending on chrome-only stuff But: it's only available with safari tech preview for now…

Andrew Lisowski 💻@hipstersmoothie.com

Safari MCP is great :D

Solid-start 2 is impressive but a waste of time because they should put all their time and effort into supporting Solid2 instead. Any new improvements should all focus on Solid2. Solid 2 is so much better than 1 that any delay in making that awesome is a missed opportunity.

Pier@pierbover.com

The @solidjs.com team is making an amazing job with Solid Start 2. Dependencies have dropped from 479 in v1 to 137 in the last v2 alpha version. And apparently a Rust version of vite-plugin-solid is coming up which would drop all the 50 or so Babel deps.

Best explanation I've seen. But also it doesn't really distinguish from the fediverse which is also just rss with comments. In fact that's probably closer to rss with comments.

atproto: it's rss with comments

After thinking about this question all weekend, I think my favorite candidate is the alchemical symbol for air: 🜁 It’s connotes both atmosphere and “transfer”. It’s a standard Unicode character. It references a capital “A.” And it’s very simple, which feels appropriate for a protocol, like 🌐 or 🛜.

The official domain is finally the official handle! To celebrate here’s a running list of known projects using StyleX: - web surfaces at Meta - FB/IG Quest apps via RSD - Figma - Snowflake - Hubspot - Linear - Polar - Mixcloud - Canva - Cursor - @cocore.dev

Vandalism is the correct word. I'm suddenly being punished for using web standards.

rich harris@rich-harris.dev

if you're using the `interestfor` attribute anywhere, you should know that a bunch of googlers just vandalised your site it looks _atrocious_. leaving aside the merits of the accessibility discussion (github.com/w3c/csswg-dr...), am flabbergasted that it shipped in this state. unbelievably careless

one idea (though it's really only working around the 'DIDs aren't hostnames' issue) would be to use <meta> tags instead of <link>. that's how non-standard-but-widely-understood things like OG images are done, after all feels like the sort of thing to fix now, before problems become widespread

Browser choice on iOS with the increased competition it would bring may create more pressure on Apple to invest in WebKit and keep up. But it could also cause Apple to simply give up like Microsoft did and that would be pretty bad for the web. So for now, it good to see WebKit improving so much!

We're long past the days of Safari only releasing improvements with every iOS update which is why the long list of improvements in Safari 27 is so impressive. webkit.org/blog/17967/n...

And yes, there are many things I wish Apple would do (:cough: browser choice :cough:), but I just want to take a moment and say this is an impressive release. Kudos.

👀 Is this Flow, or TypeScript? Is Flow coming back? - Flow syntax aligns with TypeScript - Flow has pattern matching - Useful React hooks/component/renders syntax - Compiler has been recently ported to Rust I'll keep an eye on it for you, but this is promising!

Despite the artificially inflated hype, and the grifters. Despite how it may negatively affect society. AI has real utility unlike Blockchain. So even if the bubble bursts and things change economically, the technology isn’t going away.

We get to do this with AI soon too 🥰

so you can sort of click around in the corners if you want to learn more random shit, or at the biggest ones to quickly bump your real world %. the ones you learn get flipped but you have to “protect” them (initially often, then they get more stable) according to spaced repetition decay

Also, just having *more* stuff isn’t always better. Stupid proposals have issues and also have an opportunity cost. All of web components was a huge mistake.

Jake Archibald@jakearchibald.com

Also, the lack of an alternative proposal is not a good reason to ship the half-baked thing.

Liquid Glass was definitely an influence but I think we pulled off something that is significantly better. Specially in hindsight. Liquid Glass has been a disaster.

Happy New Year! An all new StyleX website has just gone live. It's rewritten from the ground up, and is built on: - Waku - Fumadocs - StyleX (obviously) No UI is used from fumadocs, and all the components were re-written with StyleX.

Even tailwind devs can benefit from this devtools extension! We can’t magically make Tailwind a better experience, but we can at least help debug it a bit better.

Nmn@nmn.sh

Please report any bugs. With StyleX. With Tailwind. With any atomic CSS thing you may use. Also feature requests welcome. This is just the first release.

Evan Ratliff co-founded a company with an AI agent named Kyle. Kyle, not surprisingly, became a LinkedIn power poster. So much so that the company invited him -- yes, the AI agent -- to speak at an internal LinkedIn event. I won't spoil what comes next, but this entire story is a delight:

wired.comMy AI Agent ‘Cofounder’ Conquered LinkedIn. Then It Got BannedWhen social media is constantly pushing people to use AI, why not let AI agents participate?

stylexjs.com@stylexjs.com

We have just published a beta dev tools extension for chrome. It’s great for debugging StyleX and also useful for other atomic style solutions. (Mapping styles to source are obviously impossible with Tailwind, however) Please report any bugs! chromewebstore.google.com/detail/style...

AI isn’t the reason to stop building new frameworks. It’s the reason to build many new frameworks and try ideas that would be considered bad for devX or too verbose in the past. I’ve had near perfect results trying all sorts of non-mainstream tools.

rich harris@rich-harris.dev

myth: LLM-assisted coding means everyone is forced to use The Popular Framework forever reality: agents will happily migrate your entire app to The Good Framework inertia is a powerful drug but we are entering a world without moats, plan accordingly strawberrybrowser.com/blog/react-t...

i really don't care about using AI to ship more stuff it's really hard to come up with stuff worth shipping i want to ship the same amount of stuff with higher quality both in product and code
