Linear migrated its React styling from styled-components to Meta’s StyleX to reduce runtime CSS-in-JS costs and improve component encapsulation.

Stylex’s biggest super power is that it fixes non deterministic css loading in bundlers If you’ve run a large app and had 2 styles get put in the page in a different order (breaking ui), you’ve experienced it too It’s been a problem at every job I’ve had, but with stylex you can actually fix it
Can confirm. For small sites, normal CSS is just fine. LLMs are even pretty good at CSS modules. StyleX is useful for building larger design systems with stronger guarantees and constraints. That’s useful for humans and LLMs.

For small sites/snippets/web components/etc LLMs are perfectly capable to understand and grasp CSS, even if it resides in a different file, is a bit separated from Javascript. Related ->

I’ve been building the component library (like shadcn/ui) for @stylexjs.com the way I’ve always wanted. stylextras.nmn.sh - assumes stylex - simple single file components - built with web features - minimal JS - accessible - theme-able - copy-paste-able
The official domain is finally the official handle! To celebrate here’s a running list of known projects using StyleX: - web surfaces at Meta - FB/IG Quest apps via RSD - Figma - Snowflake - Hubspot - Linear - Polar - Mixcloud - Canva - Cursor - @cocore.dev
We have just published a beta dev tools extension for chrome. It’s great for debugging StyleX and also useful for other atomic style solutions. (Mapping styles to source are obviously impossible with Tailwind, however) Please report any bugs! chromewebstore.google.com/detail/style...

Meta's StyleX is a CSS-in-JS solution for large apps. We look at how it compares to Tailwind on code maintainability, scale and atomic CSS.
An all new website is now live! stylexjs.com
Happy New Year! An all new StyleX website has just gone live. It's rewritten from the ground up, and is built on: - Waku - Fumadocs - StyleX (obviously) No UI is used from fumadocs, and all the components were re-written with StyleX.
We have shipped an all new Playground: stylexjs.com/playground It used URL state so links should be shareable. More improvements to come, but it should already be a huge improvement.
Working on shipping a new playground soon. Will start sharing examples there afterwards.
Turns out the website deploy went through after all!! stylexjs.com/blog/v0.17.1/
We released v0.17 a week ago and 0.17.1 with many fixes over the weekend. With the ongoing NPM issues, Our website isn’t updated but there are some notable features, improvements and fixes. stylexjs.com/docs/api/jav...

The new unplugin is phenomenal If you bounced from stylex cause the 3rd party Vite integrations were bad, now is the time to try again
All new unplugin package. Ever since we first open sourced StyleX, integrating it with various bundler setups has been one of the biggest challenges. So far, the PostCSS plugin has been the smoothest experience we’ve been able to offer so far, but we knew we could do better.

Developers that go all in on StyleX tend to stick with it!
Stylex made me a css in js convert. The benefits you get from it are pretty hard to top - componentized css - better composition patterns - encourages isolated styles (ie a component only styles itself) - size of css caps our (it generates tailwind style utils)

Our new APIs DO NOT break our consistency and composition guarantees. We allow “observing at a distance” not “styling at a distance. stylexjs.com/docs/api/jav...
