As ever, three quarters of "look at this asshole" is always "look at this". Don't do PR for the fash. Don't give free advertising to the worst bastards. There is no dunk witty enough to warrant amplifying their hate.

Brazilians recommending not to amplify right-wing talking points by dunking and quoting, as a winning strategy Next day, my tl is full of people dunking on rfk jr I literally would not have seen the bigotry if it wasn't for y'all repeating it. That's exactly what the Brazilians were on about!

Studio Siesta is the doujin circle that operates commercially under the name Rocket Engine; you might know em for the Trouble Witches series, or the recent Cotton Reboot games (including the just-released-globally Cotton Reboot High Tension)

out now globally: Cotton Reboot High Tension! (PS4/5—Switch), Rocket Studio's original sequel to Cotton Reboot: a new second player-character, both more and less insane pachislot-esque screen vomit, two soundtracks by Hiroyuki Kawada & YMCK, etc (they advertised a Steam release too but ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ )

following the quiet TGS announcement, here's the public trailer for Studio Siesta's remake of The Hurricane of the Varstray, their caravan-style STG released for PC back in 2015—it'll be out worldwide for PC & consoles in August '27

sorry i need to publicly be a hater for a second but what do you mean the giant 230k+ signature save mass effect petition is only about the IP and not the devs that were laid off

People abroad don't understand the level of interference Meta & bots had in these elections. 5 days before the election a far-right politician posted a fake news video that got 157 MILLION views on Instagram in 24hs. For reference, GTA 6's reveal trailer got 90 million views on YouTube in 24hs.

I love it when an artist gives a chibi design the same insane level of technical detail afforded to super serious realistic illustrations.

I know absolutely nothing about Lula except that i saw someone share a clip on insta of him in celebration kissing a trans woman politician on the cheek and oh my god is that a radical act for a politician in 2026 so lets fucking go

It is really fascinating how much Trump's second victory has very much not led to a wave of far-right victories across the world (though it's been pretty fucking close in some places).

It's really important to pay attention to the fact that Lula beat the fascist candidate not by compromising and trying to meet fascist voters in the middle, but by sticking to his guns, promising prosecutions for election interference, and mobilising his own voters to turn out in greater numbers.

A very funny thing about Valheim is it starts off as this rollicking, exciting Viking adventure of exploration and vanquishing overwhelming foes but very early on the game introduces the concept of agriculture and soon 90% of your time is devoted to doing chores on your homestead.

Anyway the moral outrage over 'latchkey kids' was preposterous then and looks even more overblown now. Why would everyone living in a home not have keys to said home? Are you not aware how much of a logistical nightmare even one person not having keys becomes?

Anyway anyway all nostalgia is manufactured but this Goonies nonsense seems egregiously manufactured. Never watched Goonies, no one in my peer group ever talked about Goonies outside of the Truffle Shuffle. We're Gen-X kids! We identify with Star Wars! GTFO here with this Goonies shit.

continuing (lol) the credit feeding discussions in replies this morning waking up, refining my thoughts a bit more i think one thing i value and enjoy about arcade games in my journey is that you can experience them holistically. i am always playing, and improving at, the entire game.

When you take arcade games out of the arcade and thus eliminate the financial pressure to Get Gud, you have toto define your own metrics for enjoyment or improvement and a lot of people are unwilling or unable to do so, especially if they're used to stopping immediately at the credits scroll.

My philosophy on arcade games and why I love them is this: At some point you hit your own personal skill ceiling and stop improving. Sometimes this happens very early on, sometimes years later. And you have to be okay with that idea. Make peace with it. You have to come to terms with failure.

Arcade games don't track your progress outside of a the high score table; there's no loot, there's no collectables, no cheevos, no progress bar. There's no way outside of your own skills and retained knowledge to know if you're improving.

We see this a lot in shmup communities; people will wander by and ask what we view as "progress"; how we can differentiate between R-Type and Gradius and Thunder Force. And you have to be able to enjoy some level of delayed gratification and have enough self-control not to pour in credits.

When life closes a door, it opens a window. And if the fall is too steep, use the fire exit. Run to the roof -- you always have that airship on the dock. The most important thing is to keep moving. Keep dreaming.

Airbnb should have got ahead of this AGES ago; the fact that they're at long last focusing on making the guest experience somewhat less miserable means their bookings must be in a lot of trouble. As always hotel gang stays winning.

Pubity {bot}@pubity.xmirror.bot

Airbnb just updated their TOS to no longer require guests to do chores like doing the dishes, taking out the trash, and making the beds. Airbnb hosts are furious, with them now having to clean up their own houses when guests leave.

This is going to have some wide-ranging implications. Either the hosts will have to hire a maid service-- and hosts are already cheap as fuck and want to be disconnected as much as possible from their properties, so they won't-- or they'll have to do the cleaning themselves. Which they also won't.

The sorts of hosts who buy up swaths of properties nowhere near their own towns are going to find it impossible to actually maintain their properties without hiring a crew-- also means you can't book back-to-back stays without the previous guests paying to act as maids.
