Alright history buffs, what did they grind off of this plaque in Independence?

Dad achievement unlocked: girls asked me to 3D print comm badges for their Lower Decks costumes. So proud!

Absolute scenes from Toronto, where a critical mass of lovely human beings on bikes has seen off the trucks sent (by the culture-warring Premier Doug Ford) to rip out the bike lanes... ...while chanting "get home safe" to the workers 🥹 Inspirational, iconic, great work @cycletoronto.bsky.social!

Another example of why there’s no “agree to disagree” on the fundamental dignity of people. Unless the social penalties for being a bigot are massive it will just keep getting worse.

Yep the bike lane is the rational and reasonable place to put a traffic control sign for drivers. @mayorq.bsky.social can we take action against these contractors who fail to consider any other users except for drivers when placing signs? These are a danger & hindrance to everyone not in a car.

I really believe road construction companies with city contracts should not be allowed to bid on new contracts if they are caught blocking crosswalks, sidewalks or bike lanes with signs without permits. The comfort of drivers isn't a reason to block access to vital infrastructure for others!

disband NHTSA, expand NTSB

In a manner that is unusual, the NTSB has released a brief preliminary report on the crash that killed two members of the Milligan University cycling team. www.ntsb.gov/investigatio...

Dolly Parton was universally loved because she was a rich person who knew what it was like to be poor, stayed down to earth, and spent her life giving back to others who were less fortunate. The oligarchs who don’t understand why everyone hates them probably won’t learn from this. But they should

If you thought Kansas City's vroom-vroom bros were bad, you should check out downtown Lincoln. And by that I mean you should definitely avoid downtown Lincoln 😒

Car-blindness is real! Psychologists or sociologists should study this. Giant two-ton boxes flying all around us, piloted by people who have been rendered psychopaths, regularly injuring & killing our neighbors, and many/most people just ... don't register it. It's just background noise.

David Ho@davidho.bsky.social

I was talking to my neighbor when a group of cyclists came by at maybe 25 mph. “That’s so dangerous,” she exclaimed. In the meantime, quite a few drivers came by at 40 mph, and she’s completely unfazed. 🤦🏻‍♂️

Jim Glover razed a neighborhood to TIF a couple of big box stores. What prevents us from using eminent domain again to put the housing back where it belongs?

We should have replaced existing housing stock with the costco like this in the first place. We took out so much housing to put this suburban big box store smack dab in the middle of our urban fabric.

It is time once again to discuss the Most Dad Things we have done in the past year. A couple of reminders: - gender is a social construct, anyone can do Dad Things - you need not be a parent to do a Dad Thing - the definition of a Dad Thing is entirely subjective and maybe made up I’ll go first:

Seven years ago today I tried an ebike on a lunch hour. Yesterday I "raced" 128 miles on dirt. What's next?

I wanted to call out from my porch to a friend pedalling by, but the oncoming driver meant distraction could be deadly. I let him go in silence. Cars really do ruin everything.

Good chance the muscle car parked outside my house was stolen and dumped. I could report it, but since it's not the kind of vehicle that should be driven within earshot of society, I'ma let this fucker sit in timeout.

I will never ever understand the people who race-walk through the terminal only to freeze like a statue when they touch an escalator. Where did your hustle go, friend? They're speedy stairs, not a teleporter

Starting the new Star Trek game with my Voyager super-fan kids: "haha fuck yeah! yes!!" Me not getting to play today because they have homework and piano lessons: "well this fucking sucks. what the fuck."

Yesterday, I drove refugees that had been shipped off to Texas all the way back home to St. Paul Seeing them reunite with their families reminded me this is their home. So keep sending them to Texas. I’ll keep driving ‘em back and introducing them to Bucc-ee’s and KC barbecue along the way.
