OF COURSE this is tech's response to gender inequality. Don’t redistribute the invisible labor women do, just automate it so the same person keeps carrying it, only faster, and stripped of whatever value it had.

We were investigating Wedgewood for faking their data and emailed them for comment this morning, ahead of publishing the findings tomorrow. They are now trying to cover up their fraud with the "we were doing a social experiment" excuse. Full story here: blog.fiftyplusone.news/p/fiftypluso...

Can't believe Jean Twenge, the woman who has dedicated her career to manipulating data about teen mental health, would manipulate data about teen sexuality.

I reanalyzed the CDC data behind the LGB “free fall” headline. It rests on a change in bisexual identification among one grade, in one wave, of one survey. Gay or lesbian identification did not change significantly. Calling it a "free fall" is sensational and just gives bad actors talking points.

I think people should listen to what the administration trying to bring back spectacle lynchings, race riots, and middle passage-esque deportation voyages are trying to tell you about themselves. bsky.app/profile/bren...

Absolutely horrifying. Fear of sexual violence prevents women candidates from running for office — a gendered burden that impacts representation overall. It is brave for Bernadette Greene-Placentia to share this. (NB Article contains graphic descriptions) www.phoenixnewtimes.com/news/congres...

interesting that conservatives were militantly “we must reward hustle” when the target was affirmative action at elite universities and now, when faced with the success of south asians and other groups, it is “i think we are too meritocratic”

It's finally publication day for this decade-in-the-making book. @noamlupu.bsky.social and I explain why working-class jobs make up 70% of the average democracy's labor force, but only 2% of the average democracy's national lawmakers had working-class jobs when they got into politics.

We live in a time when one political movement uses the role of government spokesperson as an audition to join the privatized ministry of propaganda.

This might be the least surprising news of the day. Leavitt has been on Fox repeatedly since leaving the White House and Hannity has constantly joked about her having her own show. Plus, as we all know, there's a revolving door between the Trump admin and Fox News. www.nytimes.com/2026/10/05/b...

if texas goes the way it seems increasingly possible it might in november, we gotta talk about the political inbreeding that thirty years of single-party rule results in, and how that leaves that party with candidates who are utterly ill-equipped for a real general election

A post that’s so eye-opening because this is exactly what liberals will say is GOP distraction tactics, almost as a parody— and here it really is what Gaetz is saying unironically as his GOP message.

one thing that is worth remember apropos this useful piece is that novel technologies do not necessarily require novel political solutions. americans have had to deal with fast-moving, disruptive technological change in the past, and they did so through collective, democratic action.

nytimes.comOpinion | Bernie Sanders, Steve Case and Others on What Washington Should Do Now on A.I.How can the government reel in the technology? Here are six ideas.

How often do we get to see women presidents on screen? And how often are those presidencies more “legitimate”? I looked at 11 political dramas from the last 2 decades to see. Out of 41 presidents on screen, just 13 were women. Of those, only 5 were elected outright (38%), while 64% of men are.
