accidental bon vivant, aloof, amiable anarchist, bird noticer, black-thumbed botanist, bookish eccentric, co-conspirator, distracted, luddite saboteur, oblivious, occasional ne'er-do-well, patient helper, victim of various portents and riddles. humble, y'know.

i find it odd to be launching a proper touchscreen macos device at this time of the year, so far from a wwdc. prepared for disappointment. what if they're more like a larger version of the touchbar and nothing to do with the main screen at all? or a screen under the touchpad?

my yt algo beginning to cross the line into incitement. jazz to do crime to idm to kill your landlord to heavy house to deflock your neighborhood to wtf, im not cool enough for this kind of targeting.

apropos yesterday's AI hacktivism post, the "his master's tools" argument apparently has legs here's a nickel, kid, build yourself a local model

the thing with AI-discovered cve's has me thinking of other fun society-scale things that might break. what happens if you can really shine a light on dark money flows? when land ownership gets untangled? can you suddenly accurately account for military carbon footprints?

I'm excited about the long-term prospects of the hilarity which may ensue once all the AI's are trained on our "the private key is 4" jokes.

Sanctuary Computer work with mission-driven startups, cultural institutions, and elite teams inside large organizations, shaping technology and design into outcomes that create real-world impact. They are looking for a Head of Technology. buff.ly/mltVJtP

"have fun, please try not to turn us all into paperclips," he says with a sigh, assigning the AI license to the user

ms exec 1: what else can we name copilot? ms exec 2, pointing at a nearby lamp: copilot!

microsoft product terminology is very contextual, you just say what's in your copilot and people will understand

sick of mail.app on the personal laptop - apple lost me with bugs, remote content loading fud, and wanting to summarize things even though i've got intelligence as turned-off as possible. thunderbird setup took 2 minutes and it's serviceable.

"all part of being hymen" autocorrect helpfully suggests, making me reconsider the merits of being human after all. that was almost a really uncomfortable workplace conversation, sheesh

why an always-listening watch when you can make a collar that picks up subvocalizations? opsec, people!

hah, apple sherlocked 1password's hotkey. if you can parse that sentence, i'm sorry.

if altman could really see the future he wouldn't stand with his back to us at the edge of a cliff

Today, Vanity Fair’s New Establishment returns for the first time in nearly a decade. As in the original, portraits by Annie Leibovitz accompany profiles of newsmakers of the moment. In the top spot: OpenAI cofounder and CEO Sam Altman. vanityfair.visitlink.me/eEwM8o

if the first thing i see when opening an app is an ad, im immediately closing the app. i wonder how much money amazon paid for me not to use tiktok for several days.

TIL Microsoft doesn't have a mechanism for parents to reset their children's forgotten passwords. I wish I were amazed, but I'd wager no one involved in creating the Family Safety Center actually has children.

You can try account recovery, but even with access to a parent's account they can still tell you "no, you don't get to recover the account." Sorry kid, you can't play Minecraft with your friends. Microsoft wants you to learn a lesson about password management.

upgraded to ios 27 public beta last night and got a nasty surprise this morning. gtfo with this nonsense.

insult to injury, once you relent and enable siri, there's no way to remove all app access with one toggle. you get to manually hit 3-5 toggles per app you have installed. pretty user-hostile, imo.

someday the list of users who've shat in waymos will be in a data breach
